Smithfield Foods, Chinese group agree to merger
Without doing any research, which economy would you think was in a better economic situation, the United States or China? Why? Do you think this merger will impact our community? Why or why not, and if so, how? Do you think this merger is a bad or a good thing? Why?

China is a better economic state, but it still has a way to go before it catches up to us. I could care less about the merger, it's still called "Smithfield" so it can't be so bad.
Even though china's laborers don't get paid as much money as workers in the United States, we still owe their country money...so I think it's safe to assume that their economy is in better standing then our country that is in major debt. This merger will impact our community. We have a positive amount of money coming in. That's going to impact us in a good way, hopefully keeping some of it circulating.
