I was a bit shocked to find out about this. Never before have I seen a kid come clean about something like this. I think that he should be punished, but he knows he's done wrong. So the two years in prison is right. This time will teach be a reminder to the kid never to do it again.
I wouldn't expect some fifth grader to plan anything like this. There has to be a reason behind this, bullying or some sort. Punishment is considerable but I think they should be lenient about it. Mainly because he is young and this can be a lesson already to him.
Wow. I have mixed feelings toward this video. I've never seen a 5th grader (in reality) charged with conspiracy to murder. Especially one that came clean. He should be punished, but with two years instead of a decade. It'll allow him to learn from his mistake.
The 5th grader was surprising. a kid never admits what he did like that. he also doesn't plan to kill or stare. How did he even get a gun? He should be punished. He knows what he did was wrong but he could do it again.
This is sad that 5th graders are becoming murderous now. What happened to elementary students playing with stuffed animals? Now guns, which is scary. I think the 5th grader should be punished because what he did was wrong. Anyone who conspires or kills someone, should be punished.
It shocked me to see that a young boy talks about "standing guard" to help watch out for his friend to kill someone. I think the 5th grader should be punished for what he did. I think he should be put in jail now instead of waiting years. If they don't do anything about it then young people who may think of things like this will do something like this and nothing will be done until there older and it doesn't matter to them.
This was a shocker. This shows you that the world is getting worst. The 5th grader should get punished because he did it and it was wrong. He even said he knew it was wrong, so he knew what he was doing and stuff. Anybody who does that should get in trouble, not just certain people.
I was shocked. I think the 5th grader should be punished for his actions. I think the two years in jail is good. But serving a decade longer when they turn twenty is just stupid.
It really upsets me to see that boy talk about helping watch out for his friend to kill someone... What is this world coming too. The 5th grader should be punished because what he did was wrong.
Throughout the video, I was shocked. I couldn't believe that two fifth graders were conspiring to commit murder. I think the fifth graders should be punished for what they did. They knew it was wrong, but they did it anyway. I don't think they knew how serious this crime was and they didn't fully understand what they were doing, but they should still be punished for it.
I was surprised that 10 year old boys actually tried to kill somebody. The 5th grader should be punished because it is still plot to murder. He should be tried just like everybody else.
He should completely be punished for what he did. I am just shocked to see a fifth grader having a conspiracy to commit murder. When you're in fifth grade, you can tell some things right from wrong and other things are a little more difficult to tell right from wrong. But murder is never okay. In fifth grade, you should know that. Especially with all the school shootings that have happened in the past. He should get the ten years in jail. The one that was being paid should get a little less of a sentence, maybe seven years or so. But he should still go to jail.
It don't surprise me to see this. There are plenty more of little kids doing worse things then this. I am surprised to see that he admitted to the crime, because most kids would have denied it. But I have seen and heard about little kids doing way more crazier things then this.I think it's because they want to fit in an their expressing their feelings in a negative way.
This video is truely disappointing. Also, this clip shows what the world is coming to. I would like to know how the 5th grader received the gun, and if his parents had any suspicions of their son having possession of a gun. The 5th grader should be punished for his actions. If a 50 year old man committed the same crime he would probably have life in prison. Most people will jump to assumptions and say, "Oh the little boy didn't know what he was doing. He was just innocent." Clearly the 5th grader is not innocent and he even admits that he is guilty. Something is definitely wrong with the whole situation.
Yes, He should get punished! What in the world would make someone as young as him wanna plot a murder on his fellow classmates. Maybe its a mental thing. Something might have happen at birth with his brain or something I don't know..
My thought was why in the world is a 5th grader thinking this. I think the 5th grader should be punished but now not in the distant future. I feel he should go to a Juvenile Detention home.
I don't really know how to react to this video. I'm sure they weren't aware of the consequences. Yet as a 5th grader, you have a sense of what is right and what is wrong. He and his friends probably joked about it at first, and then convinced themselves that it was a good idea.
I think he should be punsihed. I was surprised that a fifth grader would even think of killing somebody. He should be punished because he planned it and was going to do it. And because he admitted to it.
I think that he should be punished even though he is in the fifth grade. I was surprised that his parents never noticed anything and never found out that he had a gun. My boyfriend has a ten year old cousin and I can’t imagine him getting his hands on a gun with out anyone finding out and planning to kill someone. I wasn’t expecting him to admit to what he did but he is probably right to go ahead and admit it to better his life. He probably planned it for some time since he had everything planned on how to keep his friend quit and try not to get caught.
The 5th grader should be punished. He may not quite understand the severity of what he did, but he definitely knows what he did. I think the 11 year old should receive a harsher punishment, however.
I am truly shocked at this. What kind of child wants to kill another child, its just appalling. Yes the fifth grader should be punished, he had a plot to kill someone! This is whats wrong with our society today to many kids are so impressionable, especially when they're young. We have so many shows and movies about killing and kids think its OK. Its not though. This child should be punished, but not by death.
This kid needs some major counseling. I'd be so embarrassed if he was my kid... Scratch that... I wouldn't raise my child to think in such a cruel way. He is very psychologically impaired, obviously. I'm not sure jail time would be the best, but it would be enough to "just scare him" so that he learns that he shouldn't do this kind on thing in the future. So it might just be needed. This kid is putting himself in a dangerous position and is going to have to experience a lot that a 5th grader should not be surcomed (or however its spelt) to at such a young age.

I was suprised. I guess he should be punished. He should be in prison for a long time.

What the heck. He should be punished. He needs to be watched. He is crazy.
