I feel like the judges sentence is better than going to prison for 10 years. But the church sentence is still kind of an issue due to the original constitution rule of seperation of state and church. I would rather go to church, but in prison its less of a punishment physically when church is really all about instilling guilt.

I do think this is a fair sentence. I think jail really has a tendency to either make people better or worse and with a 17 year old boy, I think jail will have a negative effect.

Well, I think that his desicion wasn't appropriate. What if he didn't believe in going to church. the judge really can't make him go. I understand why he didn't want to send him to prison. But still he could have gave him community service or something. Going to church for the next 10 years ? What if he can'e make it to church one day? Is he going to go to jail ? If so why didn't the judge send him to jail anyway.

I think that sending the child to jail would have done more bad than good. Hopefully sending him to church will help change his life just a little bit. I think this will help him realize what he did wrong and hopefully he won't do it again. I think going to church would be a much better option than going to jail.

I agree with the judge I do believe it would have affected the 17 year old boy greatly if he was sentenced to prison. He would defiantly be a young target for older prisoners. I do understand that it is the boy's fault considering he was under the influence of alcohol while driving. But however it was a mistake that i'm sure he regrets. Maybe his church sentencing will encourage him to change his life and get deeper with Jesus Christ his savior.

Honestly I think the judge's decision was right. A seventeen year old boy will change if going to prison for the next ten years if he does make it that long. It's not like he purposely meant to kill the boy, but church could help him to into a better person.

I think this judge made a smart move when he told this man he was going to be sentenced to church instead of prison.

I think the judge made the right decision. Sending him to church for ten years will be the best thing. When he accepts Jesus Christ in his heart he will be a better person.
