Have you heard about Trayvon Martin before now? What do you think of his story? Do you think he was shot because of the color of his skin, do you think Zimmerman was honestly acting in self defense, or do you think this is simply a huge, unfortunate misunderstanding and accident? Explain.

No, I haven't heard about Trayvon Martin before now. I think this story was sad. I think he was shot because of the color of his skin. Why, because the man said that Zimmerman asked Trayvon why is he down here. Also I think it's a huge misunderstanding and accident. Why, because Zimmerman probably think that Trayvon was going to shot him because he was walking face towards him.

Yes I have heard of Trayvon Martin before now.I think his story is sad. Yes I do think he was shot because of the color of his skin!!I DO NOT think Zimmerman was honestly acting in self defense.I think he should be charged with murder, shooting a 17 years old child for no reason except for his skin color is WRONG!!!!

I have not heard of Trayvon Martin before. These stories are sad and even worse they are common. I can't really tell if Zimmerman shot out of self defense or not. Though I'm thinking this event was just a really bad misunderstanding brought about by racial profiling. People say they aren't racist but it's rare to find a person that doesn't have that initial thought that whoever person of said race/ethnic group may not be a good person.

I have never heard of Trayvon Martin before now, and the story is a little confusing. I don't think he was shot because of his color, I actually don't understand why he was shot at all. If Zimmerman felt that he was in danger he should have taken his own way out of the situation to prevent a scene from happening. In my opinion he had no reason to shoot Trayvon and he took a innocent boy's life. I do think this was a misunderstanding but I feel as if Zimmerman should be doing serving something for killing Trayvon.

I haven't heard anything about the Trayvon Martin shooting before. I think that it was just a misunderstanding between the two people involved. I think the white guy was a little racist but i don't think that's the only reason he shot i think it contributed and it was a misunderstanding.

Yes I have heard of this on facebook the other day. I think this story is so sad. I also think he was shot because of his color and not acting in self defense. It was a big misunderstanding because he thought someone was following him and the other thought he was doing something wrong. Therefore he shot him.

I believe that it was an act of self defense. I think that the kid had no right to be walking around in a gated community, and that Zimmerman was acting in self defense. I also believe that the Florida law is ridiculous and that anyone could provoke another person to attack them and then they could simply be gunned down ? That doesnt make since. I think that if you are defending your family or household then you have the right to take matters into your own hands.

I've heard a little about this, but I didn't know for sure what it was about. I think this story is sad. I think he was shot because of his skin color, only because Zimmerman said "why are you down here". I feel like Segregation isn't apart of this country anymore, so why do people act like it. I think Zimmerman did this on purpose, because he had no right shooting the boy. I don't know the full story, but I'm sure Trayvon wasn't gonna attack Zimmerman or anything if he was on the phone with his girlfriend. This story is crazy.

I have heard of Trayvon Martin before right now, and I think it'a a terrible thing to have happened to him. I saw on the news last night that new evidence suggests that Zimmerman was getting in his car and the teenager came after him, but I personally don't know, because I obviously wasn't there. I don't think this is a race issue, but rather that the man assumed he was in danger and acted in "self defense." Instead of looking at it as a hate crime, it should be looked at as it is, a man shooting a defenseless teenager for walking in his neighborhood. People generally see teenagers as "up to no good," as proven by the curfew law of 5 p.m. for teenagers to be at McArthur mall. The man was obviously a little paranoid if he would shoot someone just because they were out at night.

Wow, I this man should get in trouble. He is obviously hiding something if the dead boys girlfriend heard what was going on. Who knows he could of been racist of just really felt threatened but he shouldn’t have the right to kill an innocent young boy. I really have no like for this man because I think he should go to jail. I’m so sorry for this boys family and I hope Zimmerman gets punished

I have heard about Trayvon Martin before and I am angered by the situation. I think his story did not have to be this way. I do think that he was shot because of the color of his skin. I don't see how in any way possible this stupid man was acting in self defense when Trayvon was running from him. In my opinion the cell phone recording tells it all. I feel that this man should go to jail because this death was unjustifiable no matter what race Trayvon may have been. It's really sad that this young boy had to lose his life because of one man's stupidity.

I have not heard about Trayvon Martin before now. This story is so sad especially if it was all a big misunderstanding. There's not really any way to tell because we weren't there but there is a lot of stereotyping about races. Zimmerman might have been shooting because he was scared because the boy looked suspicious but I don't think that he should have shot either way. It's not like the boy was attacking him, he was just walking and didn't have a weapon or anything. It's very sad and I feel really bad for his family.

I have never heard of Trayvon Martin's story before. I really think this is all about the color of people. It all breaks down to looks, even though it shouldn't. Zimmerman's story doesn't seem right for some reason. He was cussing on the phone with the police. I have a feeling that Zimmerman was just making a big scene about it. Just cause a teenager, who's black, has his hand on his waistband, doesn't mean he was going to kill somebody. Besides, the phone calls are proof that Trayvon Martin was scared and was running for his own life, so why would he attack someone else? Just because Zimmerman called the police, doesn't mean he's right and that they are going to believe that he is right. So what proof does Zimmerman have of what happened? This stuff makes me so furious! >__<

This is my first time hearing about this story. I think its extremely unfortunate that a boy died so early in life. For some reason, i feel like his race had a lot to do with it. I think Zimmerman stereotyped Trayvon because he was a young black boy walking around the neighborhood at night time. Because of that, he felt threatened by Trayvon. Either way, someone lost their life for no reason at all.

I have never heard of him. I'm not sure if it was about race. The guy who shot him looked a little dark skinned. I see that he just did it for no reason.

I have not heard of Trayvon Martin before now. I don't know what to think of the story. I think he was shot becouse of his skin color.

I believe Trayvon Martin was shot because of skin color not because he was a threat. Why would a grown man be threatened by a young kid, it makes no since at all. And the law they have is ridiculous to just be able to shoot just about anyone for anything. ZACH CAHALAN

I had never heard about Trayvon Martin until now. I think his story is very sad. The phone call that Zimmerman made sounded a bit like he was being racist. He should have let the police deal with it instead of taking matters into his own hands. I don't think he was acting in self defense. The phone call Trayvon made pretty much proved that. I don't think it was an accident, just someone he saw an opportunity to hurt someone and the boy happened to be in the wrong place and the wrong time, and Zimmerman probably thought he could get away with it since he acting as "neighbor watch".

Yes, I've heard about the shooting it's everywhere they were even reporting about this morning on the radio. I don't know what to think about why he was shoot. I really don't think Zimmerman was acting in self defense, there are two phone calls that support two totally different stories it's confusing I don't know what to believe about this it just sounds like a big mess.

I haven't heard of Trayvon Martin. He might have shot him because of the color of skin. He said a nasty thing about him to the police so maybe. Also, It might have been for self-defense too. He sounded like really scared when it was like Trayvon was coming near him. Trayvon was actually scared of him! So technically they were both scared of each other. I know the family of the little boy is devastated. It's pretty sad when you hear of young people dying, being shot, committing suicide. We will actually never know Trayvon's side of the story. Never know if Zimmerma's side is true.

I have not heard about this until now. It is a pretty dumb law if you ask me. Anyone can just say they looked suspicious. It is a very sad story, especially with his girlfriend on the phone hearing him getting chased and then killed. I believe that the man that killed him may have been a little racist saying he looked suspicious. Anyway, why would some random person be walking around with a gun on their person anyway??-Josh Cutchins

I have seen a lot about the Trayvon Martin cause this week and I think that Zimmerman should be erased. It is terribly sad that he was killed because of his race. There was no self defense because all he had was a bag of skittles and a tea, while Zimmerman had a 9 millimeter gun. I think that it was all a racial situation and I think that the police are taking to long to lock Zimmerman up and I also think that if Trayvon would have been the one to shoot Zimmerman then he would have got a life sentence without bond.
