By msnbc.com staff and news services Vermont police on Wednesday charged a couple with second degree murder in the death of teacher Melissa Jenkins, and court documents allege they pretended to have car trouble to lure her to a site where she was strangled. Allen Prue, 30, told police he wanted to "get a girl" on Sunday night, the court documents state, noting that in the past he had asked victim Melissa Jenkins out. Patricia Prue, 33, allegedly called Jenkins on Sunday night and told her they needed help. The two were taken into custody Tuesday night, The Caledonian-Record News reported. They were arraigned in court Wednesday morning and are being held without bail. Allen Prue is a snow plow driver and a sub-contracted newspaper delivery person for The Caledonian-Record since January, the newspaper said. Police said they searched the Prue's home in Waterford Tuesday night. No alleged motive was provided, but Vermont State Police said in a statement that "they knew Ms. Jenkins and had snow plowed her driveway a couple of years ago." The body of Jenkins, a 33-year-old single mother of a two-year-old boy, was found in the woods on Monday by a state trooper. Her car had been found Sunday by a friend with her son inside. Jenkins taught science and used to coach basketball at the prestigious St. Johnsbury Academy, which counts former President Calvin Coolidge among its alumni. "She's got a real gift with students who either haven't liked science before or learning science doesn't come easy to them," headmaster Tom Lovett said. "She's got a real gift with them." The teacher was killed had sadden me the most. Why, because now a little kid is going to grow up without a mother now. Yes, I think the couples should be punished. Yes, I think there was hidden motive the police don't know about. I'm just saying.

A single mother of a two-year-old boy has sadden me the most about this story.It saddens me the most because no child should have their mother murdered/taken away from them!!I think the couple should get the most punishment possible.Their may be hidden motives that the police do not know about.
It's always sad to hear or read stories like this. I feel bad for the two year old boy who lost his mother. By what I read it sounds like Allen Prue couldn't let go and went a little crazy. He lost it and killed Ms. Jenkins. Punishment for the Prue's should be fitting to murder and also with the added charge of child endangerment sense they left the kid in the car. So jail time at least maybe something more harsh.

What disturbs me the most about this story is the fact that her son was found in the car. This disturbs me because that means that the child was with his mother when she was killed. I think the couple should be punished with life in prison. They need to sit and think about what they did and how this little boy is going to live the rest of his life without his mother. I can't really say whether or not there may have been one that the police don't know about. This is a really sad story and these people obviously don't care about human kind.

I just think its sad that somebody would murder this lady. Everybody said she was so nice and everything its really sad. I think the couple should both get life in prison. There could be a hidden motive i have no idea.
Im confused. They can't find any reason on why this couple wanted to kill her. Maybe there just crazy people who knows. This is heart breaking and it obviously has saddened a whole town because of it. It is disturbing that she just got killed for no reason and she has a young child who has to be raised by someone else and grow up not having there mother there. Personally I do believe there was a hidden motive, even the craziest of people don't murder someone just to say they did it.

The worst thing about this story is that they just took the boys mother and just left him there not even worried about him. And honestly I dont see how this could not have a motive behind it. If there is not a reason then why would they pick her, I mean she had a kid with her and everything. But I believe that the people that committed the murder of this mother should either spend life in prison or face the death penalty.
The part that sadden me the most is the little boy in the car not knowing where his mother is. I personally think thats very sad for a little two year to lose their mother at this age. Prue desreve a really bad punishment! I also think there was a hidden motive the police doesn't know anything about.
I can't comprehend who would want to kill someone, let alone someone who seems to be such of a good person like Ms. Jenkins. It's horrible that they would take the single mother away from her two-year old son, and a teacher away from her students. The Prues are awful people who deserve a harsh punishment. I believe that they should have life in prison without a chance of getting out. I can't see any hidden motive for the couple to murder this woman.

The saddest part about this news story is that she was a great teacher and a bunch of people loved her and that her son is now an orphan. I think the couple should be in jail for a long time because they ruined that little boys life because he will grow up with no parents. I would think that there would be a hidden reason because you have to be crazy in the head to just want to kill someone for no reason. Either way they were wrong and they need to be locked up for good.
Its sad that an innocent women got killed. But who really knows what she did, she could have done something that nobody knows about. I would hate to loose a teacher though because that would be really hard and nobody would no what to do with the class room and stuff. I think these people should be punished to life without bail. This story got really sad when they said she has a little boy. When I saw the students who were paying tribute to her, I lost it. What is her son going to do without his mom? The couple are the stupidest people ever! I don't think there's a hidden motive that the police didn't know about.

With her being such a good person, a caring mother and caring for children enough to help educate them is very surprising. Who could possibly want her dead and for what reason crosses my mind. I think the couple should have the death penalty, they took this mother away from her child and a teacher away from the kids' learning chances. There has to be a motive behind this, you don't just kill for nothing unless your mentally impaired.

The saddest part is that her son won't have a mother anymore. He was so little to have a parent lost. This is very bad. Those children that she taught are heartbroken. I wonder what her son is feeling! I think The couple should be punished. I think they probably murdered her. I think their is a hidden motive the police don't know about. This murder case might go on for years and years. If somebody comes on out and says what actually happened then it could stop now. That neighborhood, students of the teacher, family friends, and family would probably be relieved if they knew.
Where is the Dad in all of this. I don't get why someone would do that, knowing that she has a little boy. Now that little boy will grow up not having a mom. He will also have to learn what happen to his mom. That will be the worse part of his life.

I think that many aspects of this story is sad. I think that it's sad that she was killed. Also I feel very badly for the young son because she was his mother and now she is no longer here. I don't understand how people can be so cruel as to kill another person. I hope that the child goes into good care and is taken very well care of.
This is a very sad situation . For someone to kill a school teacher . It makes it sad to know that alot of the good people . The worst part is that a child was involved in this situation . He lost his mother at a very young age . Now he has to grow up without a mother . Thats a hard thing to overcome .
It disturbs me that she would go out of her way to help them and they killed her. It is sad her son has to live a life without her. I'm surprised it happened in such a small town. The two should get a life sentence no possibility of bail or parole. There was obviously a motive or they wouldn't have done it.

I think that Allen Prue did it out of anger because maybe she said no when he asked her on a date. What a sad story. I hope her son is in good hands and doing well.
This entire story is just sad. I feel so sorry for that two-year old boy! He just lost his mother to something so horrid! On top of that, her students lost a beloved teacher. It's just sad that someone, or better yet these people, would do something so terrible to innocent people.

It would seem that there was a hidden motive that the police has yet to find. Otherwise, it makes the couple have a worse outlook. Especially with what Allen Prue said in his statement. This is very sad. This is sad because the young boy have to live with out a mother. I am glad that the killer(s) was not after the little boy. I do think that it is a hidden motive the police don't know. I hope the police find the killer that killed this mother.
This is a very sad story. The saddest part is that Melissa Jenkins 2 year old son was left in a car by himself why his mother was killed by such foolish people. People need to think twice about what they do because they don't think of all the pain and suffering that they are putting the little child through. He is only to years old and was being raised by a single mother. It makes me sad knowing that people would think about doing such things as this. This shows you what kind of world we live in and it also shows you that people can not get along for any reason at all. I think the couple that murdered Miss. Jenkins, should be given the chair or a life sentence in jail. I also think that there is a hidden motive because why out of the blue would that couple just randomly kill a single mother for no reason. It was like they have a list of names and they chose her and was like oh, I think it is time that we go on a killing spree. The couple should have had a different mindset. They should have put themselves in her shoes for just a moment just to see what she was going through, being the only one raising a two year old.
