Have you or someone you know had a smartphone stolen? Do you own a smartphone? Were you aware that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if stolen? What did you think of the wireless companies' response to the police chief's "quick fix?"

It really does not surprise me that people would steal smartphones. I mean everyone is desperate for money and trying to make easy money. People would rather steal and beat somebody for a phone than get a honest job. That is whats wrong with America today, nobody wants to have to work. I do not have a smartphone. I would rather have a phone that I am not worried about messing up all the time. And I have not heard of anyone's phone being stolen. But I am more than aware of it being an issue.

No, I don't know anyone who has gotten their phone stolen and yes I have a smartphone. Honestly I don't see the point in taking someones phone whatever profit you make off of it is not going to last you forever. I agree with the the police women said, it is a shame that they don't want to try their idea because I think it would really work. I guess what people say about big industries is true, that all their worried about is their own profit and that is such a shame.

My friend had a smartphone stolen, of course he found the thief and got his phone back....by force. I have a smart phone and I would be really messed up if it was stolen. Half of life now is on that thing its kind of sad but its basically true. I wasn't aware that wireless companies could reactivate phones like that to help the thieves, that's really scummy. How can the companies not see the effectiveness of the quick fix, I mean its already proven in Britain and Australia. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Ya a friend of mine had her phone stolen like a month ago. I do not own a smartphone. I knew that any phone could be reactivated with a new number it's always been like that. I think they should just grow a pair and try it instead of waiting for all the other countries to do it I mean we are a world superpower we should be a leader with stuff like this not a follower.

I have never got my smart phone stolen or know anyone who has. I was not aware that a smartphone could be reactivated with a stolen phone number. I think it is a goo idea for all thce companys to come together and ban the stolen number.

Yes, I knew somebody that had a smartphone stolen. No, I don't own a smartphone. No, I wasn't aware that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if stolen. I think the wireless companies' response to the police chiefs "quick fix" was stupid. I mean why wouldn't they block the smartphone if it had been stolen. It's not right to let a strange person that stole a smartphone from somebody, get away with it.

No Me or someone I know have had a smartphone stolen.Yes I do own a smartphone. No I was not aware that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if stolen.I think the companies should do more to protect their products.I also believe they should do more to protect their costumers, because their costumer are getting hurt because

Neither have I or someone I know had a smartphone stolen. I do own a smartphone. I was not aware that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if stolen. I think that the wireless companies could do much better. It's terrible how these companies talk about great customer service and are always asking how they can help their consumers but they're choosing their profits over the help and safety of their consumers.

My brother's girlfriend had her smartphone stolen from her, along with her car. I do not have a smartphone. I didn't realize that a smartphone could be activated with another phone number. The companies are being very selfish with their problem fixing, and they should not rely on other countrys to do this first before we do. It's awful that people keep getting their expensive phones taken, and the phone companies should want to help in any way they can.

Wow I always thought if a phone was reported stolen you couldn’t re activate it! I think they should put the plan into action because I think it’s crazy that cell phones are being sold on the black market for more than drugs, that’s unbelievable! I do own a smart phone and I know that sometimes a phone needs to be reactivated but if it’s reported stolen I think it should put a tracker on it and find who has it. Cell phone companies are in the business for money and that’s it they don’t care how they get the money. Cell phone companies are scammers and cops and the government really needs to fix this.

The last phone that I had was a smart phone and it was stolen at the mall but it wasn't violent, I left it on the table when we were eating and then I went back in but they said someone had already picked it up. I bought a better one and like it better anyways. I didn't know that a phone could be reactivated if it was stolen. That's stupid because that's just like asking for people to steal your phone. The wireless companies just want to make money but I think they should do what the police lady was saying because then people would not steal phones because they would be useless.

I heard of someone in this school have their phone stolen. THANK GOD, he's in alternative school because he stole money from all of my friends, my brother, and me. They finally decided to do something about it. I don't have a smartphone, but I always thought you could reactivate a phone even if it was stolen. The companies need to get off of their lazy butts and actually see if the phone they are giving a new number to has been reported stolen or not.

I dont know anyone that has had there phone stolen. I dont own a smartphone. I wasnt aware that a smartphone could be activated by another phone.

Phones get stolen all of the time. I own a smartphone, but never got it stolen from me. I was aware that a smartphone could be reactivated, even if it was stolen. I think they could fix it, however this world is so corrupt that they just want profit and don't care about anything else. They may not realize it, but big companies like verizon and sprint are just as corrupt as the people that are stealing. They aren't doing anything about it. -Josh Cutchins

My sister has had her HTC phone stolen from school before not as dramatic which is a good thing. I do own a smartphone. I did know that as long as you have a running device then you can call and get it reactivated. I'm surprised that the companies didn't go for this idea.

I have never owned a smartphone. I didn't know they could be reactivated. They could fix it. It's not their phone being stolen so they just don't care.

I have never had my smartphone stolen and I don't know someone who's phone has been stolen. I did know that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number though. That is how people sell there phones if they upgrade them and If they change how it is, then people will not be able to sell their phones for profit. I think that the wireless companies should make the phone unable for use if it is stolen, but If it is sold, then the companies should just leave it all alone.

I have never had my phone stolen but I know a lot of people who have. I do own a smartphone. I knew that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number. I think the wireless companies should make it so that the phones cannot be activated after being stolen. They should only activate phones after they are bought from the actually company store. If someone buys a phone from someone else, they should have to do it through the wireless company, with the owners permission.

I have heard of many people having their phones stolen. I believe the percentage has increased now that a major of the people have smart phones.I think the wireless companies need to help put this to an end. People are being seriously injured because of these companies careless choices. ZACH CAHALAN

I don't know of anybody who has gotten a smartphone stolen, but I do know somebody who has gotten their phone stolen though. I don't own a smartphone. Yes I did know that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if it was stolen. I think they should at least try the quick fix. People are getting seriously hurt by this. These criminals are taking these people's phones that have their personal information on them. They could track these people down and everything. Smartphones are the main phone now and I'm not surprised that criminals are taking them. Everybody wants one and the most greedy ones will probably do anything to get one.

No, I don't no know anyone that got their smartphone stolen. Yes, I own a smartphone, the blackberry torch. No, I didn't know that a smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number if stolen. I think that's a great idea. But I think it's going to cost the people more money.

I actually had my phone stolen this year. It is a smartphone and it even had a cracked screen. You would think that a theif would see the cracked screen and leave it but they didn't. Luckily I got mine back but I ended up getting a new phone anyways. When I got my phone back the person had tried to make several calls but they didn't go through because I had reported it stolen.

My friend did she was . no. Yes I knew that you could be reactivated with another number if stolen sometimes they reactivate the phones sometimes to track them with the GPS chip to find it, But sometimes that dosen't happen. I really don't know what to think.

I know a few people that have ad there smartphone stolen. I don't own a smart phone. I had no idea that a smartphone could be reactivated with a new number. That's bad that the phone companies are just trying to make money. If you don't help the people out with their stolen phone then they'll stop buying their products and that will make them loose business.

Yes, I do know someone who had their Smartphone stolen. I do own a Smartphone. I did know that a Smartphone could be reactivated with another phone number after being stolen. The phone providers need to work together. I will continue using my phone but I feel that these service providers only care about money.

I don't know anyone who has had their smart phone stolen from them. I have owned a smart phone before, but I don't anymore.
That's just crazy that a phone can be reactivated even after it's stolen. That's insane that it can be reactivated simply by creating a new phone number.
The phone companies need to do something about this! They seem like they could care less if their members get robbed or hospitalized. As long as they get their money, they could care less if it involves illegal means. That says a lot about the major phone companies. It's just sad.
I would love it if they at least tried this technique once. Just to be able to say that they gave it a try if it doesn't work.

To me it is sad that people cant go out and get new and nice things without havinq to worry people stealing from them . Personally i would do it because people shouldnt have to get hurt over a cell phone .

No. No. Yes I did. I think it is bad that the wireless companies rather keep the violence in the U.S instead of just changing it now.
