The new face of Marc Jacobs has Cindy Crawford's bone structure and Kate Moss' body, but Andrej Pejic is a 19-year-old Serbian boy. Damon Baker, a 19-year-old British photographer, went into a dark karaoke bar in Covent Garden last summer. In the back of the smoky club, he saw a woman with high cheekbones, long platinum blond hair, and wide-set blue eyes. She was, as he puts it, “the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen in your life.” They started flirting. Only a few minutes into their conversation did Baker realize: She was a he. And that he wasn’t just anybody. He was Andrej Pejic, a 19-year-old male model who has taken the fashion industry by storm. He has Cindy Crawford’s face and Kate Moss’ body — give or take a few parts.
Pejic is part of fashion’s new “femiman” trend, the latest in a new crop of gender-bending models. Pejic is the leader of a new gender fluidity in fashion, in which traditional male and female attitudes are starting to matter less. It’s a message that is being slowly adapted industry-wide, and it is resonating with consumers.
Pejic and his family fled Bosnia for Serbia when he was 2 months old. He remembers the NATO bombings of Yugoslavia as a child. At age 8, his family left for Australia, where they settled in Broadmeadows, a rough neighborhood in the suburbs of Melbourne. Pejic says he knew he looked like a girl from the minute he “came out of the womb and looked in a mirror.” His transition to Australia was a difficult one, as he was forced to learn English and integrate with students who weren’t like him. But Pejic insists that for all his physical differences, he was never bullied by his peers, and instead felt only that he was the subject of “curiosity and attention.” “A lot of macho guys did think of me as a girl,” he says of his high school years. “I can’t really say that it was ever a bad thing. All I’ll say is… a lot of free drinks!”

Do you enjoy fashion? What do you think about the new "femiman" models? What do you think of Andrej Pejic?

I do not enjoy fashion. It is not that entertaining to me. I really do not care about the models. People choose themselves to do what ever they want. I think Andrej Pejic is doing what is good for himself.
I don’t like fashion type stuff because I find a lot of the outfits they come out with to be ugly. However, I can some what appreciate it as an art. I think the “femiman” models are definitely unique and weird. However, I think it’s probably a good thing that it’s becoming popular so that people who look like that can feel more accepted. I think Andrej can look like a guy and a girl depending on his hair and outfit.
I do enjoy fashion to a certain extent. I think that the new "femiman" models are really weird. I also believe that everyone should have their individuality. Andrej Pejic is very out there. He looks exactly like a girl in some pictures and in some he looks like a boy. He just needs to pick what gender he would like to be.

I do not enjoy fashion. Fashion is just stupid. Fashion is a bunch of anorexic chicks wearing hideous clothes. I really don’t know how I feel about Femiman models. I guess they need money too. It is just creepy not being able to tell if it’s a woman or a man. At first I thought that dude was a chick but now I’m just a wee bit freaked out.
When you mean fashion do you mean dressing nicely? If you do than I do like looking nice and dressing nice. I think it is totally gay, why is a guy pretending to be a girl to model. It's just disgusting. I thought he was a girl, no doubt about it, when I saw the picture I thought he was a girl.
I enjoy the look of fashion. I think it’s just great when new looks and styles come out. I think these new “femiman” models are creative. Some people may take it offensive that it’s a man dressing like a woman. Andrej Pejic is a very talented model. He is taking modeling to the next level.
I do really enjoy fashion. I think the new "femiman" models are interesting. It's nothing like we've ever seen before. I think these new models are unique and because the fashion industry is so versatile they are widely excepted. When I first saw a picture of Andrej Pejic I thought he was a girl, and when I found out he was a boy it threw me off a little but it caught my attention and I don't find anything wrong with it.
Yes, I enjoy fashion. What I think about the new femiman models is that they need to go back and pick some new models because that is just to creepy. I think Andrej Pejic looks like a girl and could pass off as a girl.

Fashion is okay to me. The new "femiman models" are interesting. Andrej Pejic is doing his thing. He's making money and doing what he loves. He seems confident in his ability to be the best model. He also seems comfortable in his body.
This is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of in my life. Nothing will ever weird me out as much as this has. I can’t really decide whether I like the “femiman” model thing or not, it just creeps me out. The dude isn’t bad looking, but dang why does he have to look like a girl so much? It doesn’t really help that he wears skirts in his pictures, if he is a guy he shouldn’t be wearing skirts! This is just so creepy!!
This blog honestly confuses me. I feel sorry for him cause no one will ever really see him for who he is. I like fashion although I never really understand how to use it. Haha. I think the femiman will become very popular, within the next couple years.
Fashion is a kind of whatever thing for me. I wear clothes that are comfortable and then they match, that are my fashion. Femiman is a sort of fashion that I will neither become intersested in nor share my negative comments about. That fact that he dresses like a female is disturbing, just because you look like one doesn’t mean you must dress like one.
I am not an active follower of fashion. I really don’t see its importance besides the revenue it draws. I’m not sure what to think about this new fashion “trend”. On one side it is ok; every person needs an opportunity to express them selves. On the other it’s a little creepy. I am also fine with the “headman” of this fashion. He is just “expressing” himself and making use of his “talents”.
I don't know about watching fashion. But this femiman fashion is weird. I don't know what to say about that person. I just think it's weird. haha
I like Fashion. I like Zac Carpenters fashion. I don't like new femiman models. I think Andrej Pejic has a brother his name is Blake Allen.
Those pictures were really weird. The boy looked like a girl. I don’t think any guy should take pictures like that. I bet that his dad isn’t very proud of him. Next blog we should do is a girl who takes pictures and looks like a boy.
Thats really gross. I guess he's good. He's a guy so why doesn't he act like one. I don't really have anything to say about this. Girls were born girls and guys were born guys.
I think it is kind of weird a man looks so much like a woman. The pictures were very different. I don't think I really like the new "femiman" modles. I think if your a man stay with male modeling, and let the women stick with female modeling.
I like fashion and looking cute but I don’t go all crazy about it. I think the new "femiman" models are weird. It's so weird how some guys can look so much like girls. I think Andrej Pejic is a good model however, I just wonder how he looks dressed as a real guy should. I like that he said "I can't really say that it was ever a bad thing. All I’ll say is... a lot of free drinks!" I guess that could be one of the advantages of it. I still think it is really odd regardless.
Yes, I really do enjoy fashion. I think the femiman models are cool. Its something new and different. He is fierce to me. I would love to be the hottest new thing in fashion. He needs to keep up the good work!
I love looking at fashion magazines, shows, and movies. The new "femiman" models is different. I totally thought some of these guys were girls. It's nice though that these photographers and fashion directors are letting these models be who they want to be. The first time I saw that picture of Andrej Pejic, I kind of thought it was a guy but a girl at the same time. I think his story is something people need to think about. He went through a lot, but I liked that all his friends at school didn't make fun of him.
I don't really pay attention to fashion. The new "femiman" models are kind of creepy. Guys are born guys and girls are born girls. It just looks wrong when guys put on girl clothes and try to do a photo shoot or a fashion show.
Oh wow, on some pictures he could play girl very well. Other pictures anyone could tell that he is a man. The other pictures had me very shocked. Most of them had me thinking either he was a man or a woman. If he is that good at what he do then he should keep doing it. But he will always have me wondering who else is like that.
I really do enjoy fashion. I think the new femiman models are crazy. What I think of Andrej Pejic is that he is courageous. He is getting a lot of money but hes not setting the right example. He needs to step up!
I do enjoy fashion. But I personally don't approve of the new Femiman models. I think that it gives credit to more people dressing as the opposite. And making the world more gay. And you don't recognize who is a woman and who is a man. But he's good at it though. People are gonna do what they want.
I can not say I enjoy fashion because I myself am not fashion forward. So I can not say I enjoy fashion, though it does interest me.Some things that fashion decides should be in are quit taboo.I see Andrej Pejic's style as just that, taboo. It seem taboo but in some of the picture in the gallery he captures the look of a "femiman" quit well.Like pictures 4 and 24,they make you stare a little and are quit stunning in opinion.I think some of the models shown in the picture gallery have the look for the style.Though some of the models just do not look like the fit the bill for the style.I think that though Andrej seems to have picked a very taboo subject to bring into fashion he has pulled it off.How he pulled off creating the new style so taboo I have no clue.I can however say that I like the way he pulls the style off though.
I really enjoy fashion because it's so creative. I think the "femiman" models are weird, but most of the time you can tell the difference. Andrej Pejic looks like the typical pretty female model. It's great that his life has turned out well. Appearently, others enjoy his modeling.
