Which person's story surprised you most? Explain what you think the statement, "if you've never failed, you've never lived" means. Has there been a time when a failure in one area of your life paved the way for success? Why do you think we must fail in order to succeed?

It seems they are trying to tell you trail and error is a good thing. If you try and fail, try ,try again. If you don't try again and give up you'll never see your true potential. So, don't give up but try even harder.
This clip was very inspirational. It shows that in life, you will come across obstacles. Life is not an easy journey, sometimes you will have people speak negative into your life but you can not let this keep you from reaching your goal. I enjoy motivational clips such as these. It just comes to show that, you have not lived life if you have not taken a risk. -Bryce L.
Michael Jordan's story suprised me the most. I think the statement means that in order to live your life to the fullest you have to fail sometimes to bring yourself back up. Nobody is perfect. Yes, there has been many times in my life that a failure has paved the way for success. I think we all must fail in order to succeed to realize the mistakes we make in life and learn from them. -Taylor Gay :)
I think Michael Jordan's story surprised me the most. I couldn't believe that he had been cut from the high school team, but I think that gave him determination to keep practicing and getting better. The statement, "if you've never failed, you've never lived" means that a person hasn't really lived their life if they haven't taken risks and failed. There have been several times in my life where failure has paved my way to success. I think that we must fail to move on to better things in life. --Brittany Oliver :)
I think Thomas Edison's story was the most surprising. His teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. He ended up inventing the light bulb. I think the statement "If you've never failed, you've never lived" means that failure is an important part of life. If you never fail then you will never learn from your mistakes. -Jessica :)
I think Ulysses S. Grant's story surprised me the most. One of the most famous military geniuses ever. I think the statement referrs to you have to take risks to succeed in life. I think that Michael Jordan’s story surprised me the most, because he was so good at what he did. I think the statement; “if you never failed, you never lived” means that if you have never experienced failure then you don’t really know if you were successful. In my opinion I think that people must fail at something in order to achieve their goals. When someone fails at something then that sometimes motivates them and gives them reason to try harder. If someone fails and they think they can do something then all they have to do is try harder and they can achieve their goal. -Muhammad Robinson
Thomas Edison’s story surprised me the most because knowing what I know about him I would have never known that he was called stupid as a young boy growing up. Thomas grew up to be a great person who was far from stupid. The statement “if you’ve never failed, you’ve never lived”, means that with life come challenges. Yes, there have been times when I have failed such as in basketball games. But I learned to look at the failure as a way to succeed. I believe that you must fail to succeed because you must learn from your failure. ~Sherrell A.
he was being called stupid because he was academically challenged. The statement, “If you’ve never failed, you’ve never lived” means to me in order to succeed in life you are going to fail at some point to reach your goal. Micheal Jordan"s story surprised me the most, because to be such a successful basketball player, I would have never guessed he would be kicked of the court."If you have never failed, you've never lived", these means that in order to get where you are trying to get, you will make mistakes, and fall down, but as long as you keep getting up, you will succeed at what ever you do. There have been many times that i have failed, and it lead to success. I think that we must fail to succeed, because if you dont know how to do something, you must try your best to find out what doesn't work, and keep trying, sometimes things fail and sometimes you succeed the very first time. - =) Brooklynne (=
The one who surprised me the most was Michael Jordan because I never knew he was cut from his basketball team. I believe the statement "If you never failed, you've never lived," mean that in life you make mistakes, but as you make mistakes you learn and grow from it. This in life makes you want to succeed in what you want more. I can say I have had a time where I had failed, but made it a positive out of it to push me forward. I believe we must fail so that we don't make the same mistakes we did in the past. So as we move forward we make the right choices. ~GIGI~
The Walt Disney story surprised me the most. The statement, “if you've never failed, you've never lived”, I felt, mint that you have to fail to succeed in life and that obstacles will come your way, and you have to over come them. I can’t really recall when I have had a moment of failure and success over came the situation. Failure makes us, make the decision we make and after a while of failure there is no more room for failure anymore. Their only room for success. -Alia H.
Abraham Lincoln’s story surprised me the most. The statement “if you’ve never failed you’ve never lived” means that everybody makes mistakes and that no one is perfect. There has been a time when a failure in one area of my life paved a way to success. I think that we must fail in order to succeed, because when we fail we learn a lot of things. Thomas Edison's story surprised me the most. I don't understand how such a brilliant man could have once been called stupid. I think that the statement means your going to fail first because that’s how you learn. From the famous words of Black Eye Peas, "that that doesn’t kill me, will only make me stronger". You can only get better the more that you try. There have been plenty of times that I have failed at something. The first time I learned to do a back flip I busted my butt over and over. I had failed. Soon enough with all my failure behind me, I did it! *Mallory Horne*
I think that Michael Jordal was a good basketball player. He could throw the ball in the hoop very well. so I really think that michael Jordal was a great basketball player. I could not beieve the way he had ran up to that hoop and put the ball in it. brittany eley
Thomas Edison's story surprised me the most. It is hard to believe that someone brilliant enough to invent electricity could be told that he is "too stupid to learn anything." I believe that the statement means that you have to try hard to reach your goals. No one is perfect, and you will fail. However, these failures are a learning experience. One personal experience of mine was AP Calculus. I failed several times in trying to understand the material, and all those failures just made me stronger until I understood. Thomas Edison's story surprised me most. He invented so many things, but he's stupid? When I fail tests it paves the way for my next test to be a good grade, because if I fail a class i would be grounded. We must fail in order to succeed because it pushes us to try harder I think, unless you are a quitter. If you don't fail you eventually slack little by little until you do fail.
The story that surprised me most was the story where Michael Jordan was cut from the basketball team. Life is all about taking risks, if you have never failed at something in life then you've never lived life to the fullest. I can not remember a time when a failure led me to a new path for success, but it happens to everyone. Failing is a crucial part to the process of succeeding, without failure, we wouldn't learn from our mistakes. Failing is a part of life and it happens to everyone.
The person’s whose story surprised me the most was Walt Disney. I think the statement “if you’ve never failed, then you’ve never lived” means that if you have never failed at something then you never had anything to work on, because you’ve succeed everything you’ve done in your life the first time. I honestly cannot think of a time in my life where a failure has caused me to succeed(im sure there has been a time, I just cannot remember). I believe that we fail in order to succeed so you can have something to work on, so you can make a goal for yourself. If everybody succeeded at everything their first time, life would be very boring because no one would be trying to accomplish anything because they have already succeeded. -Roielle Alexis <3
All of their stories really surprised me. "If you've never failed, you've never lived" is a true statement. Everything you do will have a purpose, whether you think so or not. Failure is a part of life, sometimes it happens. On the other hand, sometimes it may just help you. I can't think of a time really when I have failed and it paved the way for success, other than riding a bike. When I get older failure will be a big part of life, but it'll help me get where I need to go. You need to fail so you can find out what you're good at and how you can improve, so that will make you succeed. Erica Owens :)
The Beatles story surprised me the most because, they have some of the best music I've ever heard. Everyone fails in life and if you haven't failed then you haven't done anything in life which means you haven't lived. In order to live, you have to get up and do something, even if it means you'll fail. If at first you don't succeed, try again. I don't remember failing then succeeding in something. I think that we all must fail in order to succeed because, we have to try various things in order to succeed and in those various of things comes failure. Everyone makes mistakes in which they must learn from in order to earn success.
I was most surprised by Michael Jackson. Because I he isn't perfect but when I heard he had locked himself in his room and didn't make the basketball team that's just kind of ironic. I think "if you're never failed, you've never lived" means if you don't ever failed then, how will you know what getting back up is like. It has been a time in my life that I have paved a way for success and it was not easy. I think we must fail in order to succeed because you have to experience learn from your mistakes and make you that much more determined. -DLE(:
This video is very motivational to me. In my opinion you always have to fail a few times to succeed in the end. At the end of the video the quote “If you have never failed, you have never lived” is a very true statement. Every time you do something and you fail you have to make the best of it. Everything we do is for a reason, even if you want to give up you just have to put your mind to it and you will eventually be successful. I could not believe that a teacher would tell any of there students that they are stupid and can’t learn anything. That is a false statement I think that the teacher just isn’t teaching the way she should or maybe the child needed more help than they were offering him. A lot of famous people today didn’t just wake up and become famous they had to work for it and they had to fail numerous amounts of times to finally succeed but look where they are now because they never gave up!
Let's see the story that shocked me the most would be Thomas Edison. I mean a teacher that would tell their students that they're stupid, really shouldn't be a teacher at all. I mean I have no clue if the teacher was in a bad mood or just having a ruff day, but why in the world would they say that? I would have freaked out if that was me! I think the statement, "If you've never failed, you've never lived" means that if you never make a mistake or never fail every once in a while, then how do you learn to do better or be better? There are tons of mistakes I make or see someone else make and it always makes me think to myself, maybe i shouldn't do that. I think once you fail, it paves a way for you to succeed just a little bit more. -Summer Wilson
In this clip the one that shocked me the most would have to be Walt Disney or Michael Jordan. They both have a lot of success stories and have went a long way with they've been told wasn't good enough. To me, the statement "If you've never failed, you've never lived" means you need to take risks to live your life and you won't succeed if you don't take any risks. When I get bad grades or don't live up to my expectations I get a little down or feel like I need to try harder, and most of the time I do better in the end because I work harder after I've let myself down. I think you must fail to succeed for two reasons. One being that you wouldn't get the chance if you didn't try and you're not always going to succeed so you must fail sometimes. The second one being you wouldn't know how good it felt to succeed if you've never felt how it feels to fail. -Amber Bass
Failure can be many things. It could be someone’s worst fear. Many lives have been ruined due to failure at something. Failure in life is inevitable, and it is a dire thing to have happen, but how you bounce back from failure is important. Failing at something is not bad, but dwelling on it is the bad thing to do. I have yet to have a failure in my life that led to success, but I am sure that it is going to happen sooner or later. –Nick Powell™
I think Thomas Edison's story was most surprising. It is depressing when someone tells you that you are not smart enough to learn anything. I think, "If you've never failed, you've never lived" means that if you are never challenged in life then when things start to get difficult then you will not be able to handle it. When I learned how to ride a bike, I fell off before I learned how to stay on and keep my balance. I think you have to fail in order to succeed because you learn from your mistakes. ~Andrea Johnson
The story that surprised me the most was Thomas Edison. It surprised me the most because what teacher would say something like that to a student. When I read the statement it got me the think when you never try means you will never make it in the lifetime you are trying to succeed.Yes I had a failure that paved my way to success. The failure that I had pushed a whole step back in my life.It made me think about things big time before I do them. I feel that we should fail to succeed to learn from our mistakes. So it will make us a better person in lifetime.
The story that surprised me the most was Walt Disney. He was fired from the newspaper for not having any imagination. Now even though he has passed away, he has made 1000's of disney movies and has amusement parks named after him and what he created. He has made many people remember their childhood just by hugging mickey in a costume. The saying, "if you've never failed, you've never lived" to me means that for you to reach your goal you have a lot of obstacles you will face and sometimes the same obstacles before you reach that goal. Nothing comes easy, life is about taking risks and making tough choices. Once you've reached that goal, knowing that you fought hard to get it will make it so much better. A time when i failed was when I dropped out of school two months before I was supposed to graduate. It was a stupid decision but it led to falling in love with my soon to be husband and becoming a mom to two beautiful girls and I wouldn't change it for nothing. You must fail in order to succeed because people are hard headed and the have to make mistakes in order to learn anything today.
Michael Jordan's story surprised me the most. I think the statement "if you've never failed, you've never lived" means that everyone fails at one time or another and its all a part of life's lessons to be learned and you have to make errors in order to move forward because no one's perfect. There has been a time when a failure in my life paved me for success.I believe we must fail in order to succeed because failure makes you want to push harder and better yourself and you learn from your mistakes and in the end, you're proud of your accomplishments. ~*Shaquii~*
The story that surprised me the most was the Beetles. The reason that their story surprised me the most was because I thought they got there record label at there first session. I think the statement "if you've never failed, you've never lived" is true because everyone fails and not just once I mean we fail hundreds of times before we succeed at things. There was many times when failure paved the way for my future so I could succeed. The one time I remember, a time everyone should remember, is when I failed repeatedly at riding the bike so I tried harder, and now I can ride bikes and motorcycles with ease. I think that we must fail to succeed because all success is made by a path of repeated failure that molds out our success of the future. James St. Peter
Michael Jordan's story surprised me the most because although he was cut from his High School basketball team he still managed to overcome it and become one of the best basketball players to ever play in the NBA. The statement "If you've never failed, you've never lived" basically means that in your life you are going to fail unless you dont exist. There have been many failures in my life that has paved the way for success and I have learned from each and every one of them. I think that we must fail in order to succeed because sucess is nothing but failure turned inside out for the most part and the things that you fail in helps you to become more successful.-Cadeja Wilson

This video is so true. "If you fail you have not lived." Everyone has failed, so it's not funny to joke on people that do. It's part of life. Failure helps you succeed in life whether it makes sense or not. I mean look at Michael Jordan, he gave up, but where is it now? He’s in the NBA setting records and being a great basketball player. A lot of famous people have failed but now are very successful. So never give up and keep going. You will SUCCEED!©
