Suri Cruise reaches new heights...

No video today...

Suri Cruise was spotted wearing little silver heels and a matching sparkly purse while shopping in Boston yesterday with mom Katie Holmes. The two spent the day out and about, while Tom Cruise was in town shooting "Wichita." The previous day, Suri appeared to be wearing lipstick (or was her bright pink pout the result of a popsicle?).

Weigh in on the poll below and then comment on the questions.

Why do you think America is so fixated on celebrities? What do you think it says about America when people think a little girl wearing high heels while shopping is news-worthy? Be honest, would you rather read current events or celebrity gossip and why?

I think America is fixated on celebrities so much because we see them all the time and of course the news has to find out as much as they can so the daily lives of a celebritie is known throughout the world. I don't mind celebrity gossip over current events beacuse more currents invole death and destrustion and its nice to see a change in news every once in awhile.

I think America is so fixated on celebrities is so they will have something to talk about. They will find the smallest thing and make it huge. This problem shows that America really has nothing to talk about. They just wanted to have something to talk about and this time it was a three year old. I would rather read about current events than celebrity gossip. It's more important to know what's going on around in the world and around me. The problems with celebrities are their problems not mine.

America is so fixed on celebrities because, it brings the company's (exp: magazines) money in. I think it's a bit ridiculous that they concentrate on something that's not important.I prefer to read celebrity gossip, to be honest it is quite interesting what the reporters have to say about their lives. Especially Jon and Kate, there is something new always going on, and the reporters always make it seem worse than what it really is.

SamanthaI think America is fixated on celebrities because they do the movies, sing and other cool stuff. I think they want to ruin their lives because they always want to butt in and tell what the celebrities are doing. I think it says America isn't really taking care of the children. They allow the kids to wear makeup and high heals. I would rather read celebrity gossip than current events because I don't really like current events.

I think America being fixated on celebrities is pointless. But I would have to say that America just wants to know what's going on with today's celebrities. I think that when America has stooped so low as to put a 3 year old girl on the news, America has lost her principles. I would rather read current events than read celebrity gossip. Because I hate to listen to, not to mention read, celebrity gossip.

I think that America is so fixed on celebrities just so they will have something to talk about. In my opinion, the little girl wearing high heels while shopping is alright. I do not think that people would look at the little girl in a bad way. To tell you the truth I would rather read current events, this topic wasn’t even necessary. Overall, this doesn’t surprise me, because paparazzi does this all the time and claims to be doing their job.

I think celebrities are normal successful human beings just like the rest of us. It is not news that some little girl is out in public all dressed up. Would you want your child all over the news just because she was trying to be like mommy? It's not news and personally I think anyone who is that obsessed with other peoples lives needs to get one of their own. I think it's neat to know little facts if you like that person a lot but to be literally obsessed and to stalk them and take pictures, etc. is over the top. It has no place in the News. News should include things like the weather, and important things that have been happening with our government, etc.

I believe that America is stuck on celebrities because a lot of them are looked at as role models. To me there is a difference between a little girl dressing up and for fun and a little girl dressing up like that as an everyday thing. I do not think that this story should have made the news headlines. It a waste of time for us as America to be bothered about what someone else allows their children to do, unless there is something illegal being done. Being honest I would rather read celebrity gossip but to a certain point when it comes to what their children are wearing that’s different.

It seems like America is always talking about something a celebrity has done. I don't understand why America is so fixated on celebrities because they are people just like us. A little girl wearing high heels while shopping is not news-worthy. All little girls remember dressing up and putting on makeup, so I don't understand what makes this little girl any different. News people should be more concerned about important issues like unemployment and the war. I fit into the American stereotype because I would rather read celebrity gossip.

I think that America is so fixated on celebrities because they supply the majority of our entertainment. The fact that the news is concerned about a little girl wearing high heals while shopping is sad. It's not that big of a deal because most three year old girls in America are beginning to play with make up and wear high heels. You see a lot of little girls wear heels to church. I think that celebrity gossip is more entertaining because it's something that I can actually comment on. Current news is usually way above my head and some of the words are too big for me.

I do not know why America is so fixated on celebrities. These celebrities are just normal people like you and me. This is nothing to take seriously, Suri Cruise is just a young child who wants to play dress up. Its hard to say what I would rather choose to read because I enjoy reading about current events and celebrity gossip. I enjoy celebrity gossip because it is amusing but current events keep me aware of things that is going around in my community and my nation.

I think America is so fixated on celebrities because everybody wants something to gossip about. What this says about America is that they are worried and stuck on crazy things. In some cases I would rather read celebrity gossip than current news. The same thing goes on every day in current news. When it comes down to unnecessary things like a little girl wearing heel and putting on lipstick I would rather read about current news.

America is so fixated on celebrities because they are rich and famous. I think it says that we have no real news to talk about. I really don't like to read but if I had to chose, I would rather read celebrity gossip because it is more interesting to me than a flash flood or a little girl with heels.

I believe that America is fixated on celebrities because no one has anything better to do with their spare time. When a young girl wearing high heels is news-worthy, that simply proves my previous point; America's citizens have nothing better to do with their time. I believe that I would rather read current events... depending on the topic. Some current events bore me and to be honest I probably would enjoy gossip more than current events if the event was boring enough. The girl in the picture shown in this blog is NOT dressed appropriately for her age in a public setting.

I think they're so fixated on celebrities, because they're famous for things that they do. A little girl wearing high heels and wearing lip stick is news-worthy, because she's too young to be wearing makeup. Another thing, why would her mom let her daughter put makeup on at that young age anyway? Why not wait until she's older? I can understand her putting on makeup on if she was at home, but definely not in public. I'd honestly rather read about celebrity gossip because, most of it is so hilarios.

I think that America is so fixated on celebrities because they want to find someone who will mess up in the public so they can make themselves feel better. I think America is so caught up with people in the public eye that that's all they care about. It doesn't sound good for us when a celebrity child is the main source of news, just for wearing high heals. Honestly, I would rather read celebrity gossip. The journalists make the stories about celebrities more interesting, because they know they can. I definitely don't believe everything I hear.

I mean why should it matter what she wearing. I think that if her mom let her wear that she is fine. but to me I don't think anyone should let her child wear that in public. When your out in the public you should dress your child like the should be dressed. Most of all I really will not care because my child is going to be dress right.

I think America is fixated on celebrities so much because lots of people idolize them. They’re an inspiration that any one can do anything. I think that says a lot about America, we waste our time worrying about dumb things verses more important issues. I would rather read celebrity gossip rather than current events, because unless it’s something that could change my life around, I really don’t care. I would rather read about celebrities doing stupid stuff.

I think its ok for a little girl to wear heels and lipstick but at the same time she needs to stay young while she can and have fun. I think I would rather read celebrity gossip because it’s more interesting and funny at the same time. I do like reading current events too because it’s important to know what’s going on with the world and all the information on the stuff that’s happing. I think America is so fixated on celebrities because there famous and popular and everyone wants to know there gossip and what there doing. I think that it’s really cute that she wanted to wear that but her mom should just put her in normal clothes for her age.

America is so fixated on celebrities because they think its like cool or whatever. America is just weird like seriously why should anyone care about what Suri is wearing. I think its stupid that people write about this stuff, but I would honestly rather read celebrity gossip because current events are boring.

America is all about entertainment. We love to see a good movie or listen to good music, and because of this, we fall in love with the celebrities that bring us this entertainment. I think America is focused on the wrong things; it is not in any way essential to know about what is going on in a celebrity's life. It makes America look like a materialistic nation who idolizes the rich and the famous, which has some truth in it. Honestly, I do not care what goes on in a celebrity's life, but I admit it is more entertaining to read about celebrity gossip than to read about some current event. There is a difference between reading about celebrities for fun and reading about them out of an obsession, though.

America is fixed on celebrites because they are basically what everyone else wants to be like. I think that a little girl wearing high heels says that Americans allow their little children to dress as if they were older than they actually are. I think it's inappropriate for a three year old to wear lipstick and heals out in the public. When she is at home it's fine but not out in the public like that. I would rather read celebrity gossip because it's interesting to see what they are doing and who is dating who.

The reason why America is so fixated on celebrities is because it might be their role model. America would put anything on the news that interest them. I would rather read a celebrity gossip because it is more interesting then reading a current events. And it more excitng to read than reading a current event.

“Why do you think America is so fixated on celebrities?" Well probably because America loves gossip. It makes no sense to me, really. I mean why do people want to see celebrity gossip and people arguing. It does not interest me at all. Well a girl wearing make up, lip stick, and high heels at 3 years old. I personally think that’s too young for that, and to publish it on the news makes no sense also. And to be personally honest, I would rather read current events than celebrity gossip, because I do not like drama one bit. That’s all I got to say!

I believe that America is fixated with celebrities because their wild lives intrigue our society. Every unusual thing they do makes front page news because people want to hear what’s going on in people’s lives. We humans as species have a built in fascination with being a little bit nosy, myself included. I think that also celebrity news makes the front page so that we can have a short break from war, disease, famine, debt, and corruption. It is a nice little distraction in my opinion. Though it is important to keep updated on current events, but being informed on celebrities is not so bad either. _™Nick Powell 1st ™

I think America is so fixated on celebrities because it is a "big sign" that says "JACKPOT." Millions of people waste there money buying magazines just to read about celebrity gossip, I know I am one of them. I think that when you can find something this stupid newsworthy, it just means America is one noisy country. I love celebrity gossip because some of it is so stupid and it makes me laugh, especially when Brittany Spears cut all her hair off (I was weak!!). Although, I would rather read current events because it keeps you updated about important issues.

I think America is so fixated on celebrities because they are bored with their lives and crave action they can only get from movies and TV. I think anyone who sees this as news worthy should get shot because they exploiting a child for there own gain, and it says that America is stupid and needs to find a real hobby. I would rather not do either because both bore me and I really hate celebrities. But if I had to look at one it would be current events because at least that is informing me on important stuff I need to know. The reason I would not read Celebrity Gossip is because all it is trash and personal business that no one but the person it's about needs to know. James St. Peter

I think people are so concerned about celebrities and their lives because all of their business is out in the open for the world to see and talk about. People care so much about other people's lives when really it’s none of their business. I don't understand why someone would put the little girl in the news because of what she's wearing. Yes, to me famous girls do grow up faster, but it’s not something that should be all over headlines. To me she was wearing a little much to be three; I can understand it if she was at home, but in public it’s a little grown. On the other hand people care way too much about celebrities and the little things they do. I would rather read gossip than a news article. It isn't something I'm proud of but it's true. I don't know why, but I think it's because I'm a nosey person anyways. Lol (;

I think America is so fixated on celebrities because they are celebrities. And because their celebrities we think oh they are a celebrity, let me worship them! And if they shave half of their hair, so will I too. It says America is some what twisted. Like a three-year old girl dressed up like she’s six or eight. I would rather read celebrity gossip because it is just more appealing than current events.

I have no idea why most of the people in America are so fixated on celebrities. Celebrities are regular human beings just like us that deserve there privacy and shouldn't be followed around and watched all the time. The only thing about them is that they are famous. I think the reason why America thinks that it is news-worthy because a girl that is that young shouldn't be wearing stuff like that because it makes her look older than she really is and most people may not know it but that can become a problem at that early of an age. I don't know which one I would rather read but it would probably have to be current events because reading celebrity gossip is just like listening to a whold bunch of lies and is pretty much saying that you have no life.-Cadeja Wilson
