EXCUSED absence

What's the craziest excuse you have ever given for being absent? Do you think there should be a limit on the number of absences you have? Why or why not? If you could change one rule at WHS, would it be the absence/tardy rule or something else?

I don't remember any crazy excuse that I have ever given for being absent. Yes, but only the unexcuse absences. But if you have excuse absences then you should be able to have no limit. If I could change one rule at WHS, it would be the dress code. Our dress code for girls that ware tights with a dress should be accepted because it's not like you can see there underware or something.

I haven't really turned in a crazy excuse for an absent. All the absences I've had I turned in the actual reason. I was sick, or I was dealing with family problems, stuff like that. I haven't had a problem with the absences rule here at WHS. If I could change the a rule it would be the cellphone rule. We find a way to use them anyway so if the rule is changed we are saving the teachers from having an aneurysm.

I have never really used an excuse for being absent. I have usually had a doctors note or a note from my parents. I don't really have a problem with the absence rule, I literally come to school everyday unless I absolutely can't. I wouldn't change the rule. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

I don't think I have ever had a crazy excuse for being absent from school. Yes, because if you don't kids will not be comming to school that much. I think that they should change the no cell phone during school hour rule becuase we can use that alot with work.

I really never wrote a crazy excuse because all my letters that are written are facts. Yes I do think there should be because if there are not a certain number than I believe a lot of students would take going to school to another level. It would be something else or just nothing at all.

I don't think I've given a crazy excuse for being absent. Also, it shouldn't matter if you're absent as long as you pass. If you can get the work done without having to be there, and still have passing grades, it shouldn't matter how often you actually come to school. I would DEFINITELY change the tardy rule, because it shouldn't matter if I'm a couple minutes late a day, when I have the honor roll anyway. I realize that I can get fired in the real world for it, but this isn't a job so it shouldn't matter. If high school was such a preparation for adulthood, then we wouldn't be forced to wear a certain color to an event, or have to have paper documentation every time you go to get water.

This is awesome, but at our school I bet they would still make you take your exams. I miss a lot of school but their all for doctor’s appointments. I think absences with a doctor’s note shouldn’t count against exam exemption because if you have an A or B obviously you’re a good student. Spencer is trying to make that happen for us and I hope because if it wasn’t for that I would never have to take my exams. For tardys, I think people should get in trouble I mean just leave five minutes earlier.

I don't think I've ever giving an crazy excuse for being absent. It shouldn't matter how many days you miss as long as you get all your work done. That's how I see it. If I could change one rule at WHS it would be how many days you could miss.

I have never had a crazy excuse before. There should NOT be a limit on excuses and tardies. There is many reasons for people to not be at school. For example, my best friend, hint hint, always has doctor's appointments and some teachers still mark her absent. It's not her fault that she has to miss school. If I could change one rule, it be the whole attendance policy. Three tardies should not count as one absent. A tardy, is a freaking tardy. You were at school, but you were just late. It is not an ABSENT!!!!!!!!!

I think the craziest excuse I've ever used was to go to see family one time. I do think there should be a limit number of absences like 15, Because some people get really sick easily. I think the one rule I could change would be the tardy to your not late for class until past the 10 minutes of the class beginning.

The craziest excuse I have ever given was that I was was trying to save the world! I think it's ridiculous how many absences some students have. It may effect them in the future when they apply for a job. I would make it to where there are no exams at the end of the year.

I haven't really gave a crazy excuse for being absent. To me I don't think there should be a limit on the number of absences you have. Some people get sick very often very bad. I think if you just stay home to just stay home then there should be a number, but if you are actually really bad off then you shouldn't have one. I would like to change actually 2 rules at WHS. The first one would be that you can use cell phones during school. Also, the absence rule I would change.

People have told me that they can’t come to something of mine because their mom over heated cutting grass and just had a seizure, even though it wasn’t hot outside, and their mom doesn’t cut the grass. I think there should be a limit of absences because people will be trifling and miss a lot of days. I would change the rule for Beta that you have to have a 3.25GPA through out high school. I would make it so that you only need a 3.5 GPA to be in Beta.

My worse excuse has been its my sisters fault haha. I don't think there should be a limit on absences because some people have to miss school, and sometimes they are the smartest which is sad. I would change the tardy bell to later if I could :)

I never got a craziest excuse ever. Yes, because people would not go to school an can not get the job they want. The rule I would change is the tardy rule. people should not get an absent for having 3 tardies. You are late to the class but you are here in the class anyways.

I just tell people that I was sick if I ever miss a day. I would change the rule for when people go in the school. Instead of waiting until 7:15, students should just go inside if they're earlier.

I don't think I have ever used any bogus excuse that wasn't true. When I miss school it is usually because I'm either really sick or somtheing like that. Yes I think there should be a limit on absences because if there wasn't then no one would come to school. I don't think the number should be really low but not really high either. I'm not sure what rule I would change at WHS.

I haven't ever really given a crazy excuse for being absent. I think there should be a limit to the number of absences you can have, because when a student misses a day or days its more work on the teacher to catch them up. Also if there wasn't a limit, students would be out of school all the time which will lower their grades. If I could change one rule at WHS, it'd be about having drinks in school. I take medication that makes me really really thirsty. I have a note to allow water at any time, but sometimes I want to drink something other than water. I like to bring my drinks in a cup with a top so I can put ice in it, but they don't allow us to do that.

I don't really miss a lot of school so I haven't made a really crazy excuse for being absent. I believe that if you are doing very well in your classes then it shouldn't matter how many days you miss, but with certain restrictions. If I could change one rule at WHS it would be how many days you can miss. -Josh Cutchins

I do think that the craziest excuse that I've come up with is, because I missed a week, was I was staying with my grandpa in NC for his funeral and to be by his side before he passed.
15-20 should be the proper limit per school year. It's fair for people who actually have good excuses.
My new rule for absences is give the students an extra twenty minutes before you count them officially absent. That would be really awesome!

I don't think a have a crazy excuse for being absent. I always say that I was sick. Yes, well it all depend on what the excuse is. Because if one student miss more than 10 days and if they have an excuse saying they were sick from a doctor; I think that should be excuse. I think the absences and tardy rule.

He is the luckiest kid in the world to get a pass to class from Barak Obama . The craziest excuse for the being absent , was the day i wouldn't take my pill . So they made me stay at home . That was when I was 8 years old .Yes there should be a limit on excuses , because if there wasn't kids wouldn't even bother coming to school . If I could change a rule it would be the tardy bell , because if rings to early .
