In our own backyard...
Were you surprised that a news story like this occurred in Isle of Wight County? What about this story shocked you most? Have you heard any "rumors" since this story was aired as to why Jay Joyner killed his parents? Do you consider Isle of Wight County a good place to live? Why or why not?

That's crazy and it's really scary how it happened in Isle of Wight County. I can't believe that he would kill his own parents. They are the ones that brought him into this world in the first place. I heard that he killed them because they wouldn't give him money for drugs. I consider this county as pretty safe, things like this happen everywhere. It still is kinda freaky because it's so close to where live.
This was a little surprising because this happened really close to where we are. The most shocking part of this is that I've never heard of a murder in IOW before. Though I'm sure murders have happened here before. I have not heard any rumors in fact I've hardly heard about this story before now. I think IOW is as safe as any place to live, but places will always have some sort of danger.

Yes I was surprise that a news story like this occurred in IOWC. When the son murder his parents. No I haven't heard any rumors since this story was aired as to why Jay Joyner killed his parents. I do consider IOWC a good place to live. Why, because hardly nothing happens in IOWC, other then people getting tickets for speeding. That's pretty much it.

News stories like this can happen anywhere, just because we are in a small county doesn't mean stuff can't happen here also. The thing that shocked me the most was the fact that this guy killed his own dad i mean that's the man who gave him life. Everything that i have heard about this story is accurate. Yes, I think Isle Of Wight is an excellent place to live your not gonna find a place with no crime.
I am surprised how this is in Isle Of Wight and how he could just kill his parents. Killing his parents is the most shocking news to me, because they raised you and kept you safe. I have not heard any rumors since this story aired. I believe that Isle of Wight is a good place to live, because there are more dangerous places then this.
I was surprised at this story and is scared me a lot. Not that they have the man that killed the people though it’s not that bad because we know it’s just not a random person trying to kill tons of people. I don’t like that Isle of Wight has been on the news lately it doesn’t mean anything good. Things happen like this every day but it just hits home when its 8 minutes from your house and when you know the cops and firefighters that were on the scene. I could never kill my won parents and most kids couldn’t, there must be something wrong with him
Yes I kinda was because not much happens in isle of wight. I was most shocked that the son would kill his father and stepmother. No I haven't heard rumors but a lot of adults I know including my mother knew the parents and everyone says they was really nice people and they do not know why anyone would want to kill them especially there own son. Yes I do consider isle of wight county a good place to live because anywhere you go people are getting killed and there is less violence in isle of wight then anywhere else I know.
He is such a disgrace to Isle of Wight County. WE are supposed to represent peace. We are never on the news, except for the good news. I was just surprised at the fact that he killed his OWN PARENTS. Like dude, they put you in this world, they might as well take you out. YOU are so dumb for killing your parents. The only rumors I heard was that he killed them because he got home and they were fighting. It better be a good place to live. If its not a safe place to live then maybe I can persuade my parents to move. I absolutely miss Virginia Beach.
I was surprised, because I never thought something like that would happen like this. What shocked me the most was it being their SON that killed them. I've heard a lot of rumors about it. I consider it a good place to live, because there is hardly no trouble out here.
It is crazy that something like this happened around here, yes it could happen anywhere but this place is so small you just wouldn't expect it. I just can't believe someone could honestly kill their parents just the thought of it makes my tummy hurt. I haven't really been following the story so I haven't heard why he would do such a thing. I do consider this a good place to live cause stuff like this does not happen everyday like other places in the world.

I was very surprised that something like this happened so close to my work and school and even were i live. The most surprising thing about this story to me was that it was there son who murdered them. That is unbelievable to me. I think the same thing that he did to his parents should be done to him. Then my tax paying dollars wont be spent to feed, clothe, and keep him comfterable.
I wasn't that surprised that it happened in IOWC. I'm shocked that someone killed their parents. I have no idea why he did it. I think IOWC is a good place to live. It is peaceful until now.
That's pretty crazy how it happened in Isle of Wight. It's surprising how dumb he was. He was on a road that many people use on the side of the bridge with the trunk open. Isle of Wight is a pretty good place to live. -Josh Cutchins
I a little bit. That he would kill his on father and step-mother. My father knew them a little bit so he heard a few of the rumors. Yes it's a good place to live it's nice, quite, and always nice weather.
I was a little shocked but things like this always seem to happen in small, unexpected places. I was shocked that it was their son more then anything. I hadn't heard any rumors about the story. I think Isle of Wight County is a good place to live because the crime levels are very low compared to other places. Just because this one murder I don't think its a bad place to live. Things like this happen every once in a while everywhere. Small towns or huge cities, it doesn't matter, it is guaranteed to happen at least once.
That is pretty shocking. I think he should get a death sentence. Isle of Wight County would be a good place to live. When's the last time something like that happened before now?

That's wierd someone would just do that out of the middle of no where. He killed them and just went on with his life for a while. That's messed up. But at least they got him behind bars.

Yes, I was surprised of the murder story. The most shocking was that it was their son that killed the couple. I haven't heard a reason of why he has done this to his parents. I love Isle of Wight and think of it as a safe community because of the family and friends that surround us. No matter the dislike here, if something were to happen to someone in this school or around, we'd all be there for them as well.

I was very surprised this happen in Isle of Wight County. I saw Jay's father in the garden a week before his death, this was the most shocking part of all. I heard a lot of rumors about this story. I still consider Isle Wight County a good place to live. I say this because other places is worst than Isle Wight.

I was very surprised that this happened right here in Isle of Wight. What shocked me the most was that the son was the murderer. I have heard that the reason was because the parents were no longer willing to help him with his financial problems and he went off. I consider Isle of Wight a great place to live!
Yes I was so surprised that this happened like literally right up the road from us. That it was so close is what shocked me the most. No, I mean I heard it was because he wanted money but other than that no other rumors. IOW is a decent place to live but there is always going to be something that goes on whether it's as serious as this or as small as a yard sale.
Yes I was very surprised that this happened in IOW. The part that shocked me the most was that his parents did everything for that boy. His stepfather did everything for him too. I personally knew this whole family and I'm pretty surprised. His stepfather, which is my bowling coach, helped him a lot. He talked to him Thursday night actually. Mr. Alan is really really surprised. We were thinking about it and that could have been him or his actual mother. No I didn't hear any different rumors of why he killed his parents. I do consider IOW good place to live. This was a once in a life time thing. IOW is still safe. We don't have people shooting other innocent people everyday of the week. This was just one time and hopefully it will never happen again. At least they know who the person is and the murderer isn't running around Windsor. This family is very surprised and shocked.

I have heard rumors that Jay Joyner killed his parents for money and land I consider Isle of Wight County a good place to live because the murder rate is so low that when one does take place it makes big news but other places, such as Suffolk, have murders every week and they barely get mentioned on the news.

This is very sad , because i pass this house everyday on the bus . I would have never have know that someone nearby would do something like this . Im still shocked by this incident .
No stuff like this happens all the time it just so happened to be close. That he could kill his parents. No I hate living here its to boring.
I was a little bit scared because that is not that far from my home. I think that the most scary part is that he would kill his parents for wanting more money. He should know that in this economy, everyone has it rough so that was no reason to go kill his parents. I have seen in the paper that he killed his father because of money issues and I think he probably killed his step-mother so that she wouldn't marry someone else and take the family's money. I think that Isle of Wight is a good place to live and I would recommend to others.
I was definitely shocked when I heard what had actually happened. My mom and I were passing by and saw ambulances so we thought that they were just hurt. But when we came back to get my permit and saw the crime-scene tape, it finally set in that someone might have been dead. So when we watched the news and saw what had happened to the couple. We had heard so many good things about the couple. That's why it was so hard to believe that this had happened.
I've heard plenty of rumors about what had happened. But it was a different story to see what was going on. Well, passing by and seeing the guy without restrains was scary enough.
In my opinion, IWC is very dull and boring until something like this happens. I would prefer to live in a city because there isn't much to do around here.
