Describe your reaction to the video. Do you think something similar could happen at WHS? Why or why not? What, if anything, can be done to prevent horrible incidents like this one that took place in Ohio?

This video was pretty sad. It could happen anywhere, school, public, anywhere. People feel certain ways about certain things. Kids who have no one but themselves work up there emotions and I guess, in my opinion, the way they feel is if shooting someone will be a way of getting rid of their pain. It's sad because it's not always the kids fault. People get bullied and picked on everyday and that can cause those kinds of emotions to occur. The way I see it the best way to prevent something like this is don't be the person that can drive someone to feel that way. Treat someone the way you want to be treated.

My reaction to this video is wow, like its really sad.I do think that something similar could happen like this at WHS.I think so because its possible anywhere, and you never know how far someone has been pushed.
To prevent horrible things like this happening I think metal detectors would help. However that is a little much for high school, but it would keep people safe.

I had a very shocked reaction to the video. I cannot predict if something similar could happen at WHS. I would hope that no one at WHS would commit such an act. I think increased security could prevent horrible incidents like this. If security is increased then everything would be stricter but all it takes is one bad apple to ruin the bunch so other people have to suffer.

It was a very moving video, and it just shows that maybe when you might be joking somebody you need to think how they feel. Maybe it doesnt seem like a big deal to you but to them it might lead them to doing something the might regret. This is not something I can see occurring at WHS. Everyone knows each other and they treat one another pretty good for the most part.

My reaction was shocked because it's just hard to believe that some crazy kid is gonna bring a gun to school and shoot some other dudes. I mean anything can happen anywhere but I don't think it would happen here unless some kid went crazy. Well we could have metal detectors and people searching us everyday but is that necessary?

High school bullying was probably the reason this boy shot people. This is very sad and scary but his fellow classmates are probably to blame. A lot of kids have family issues but a lot of kids are joked on and mocked during middle and high school. It’s very sad and it happens in every school. Over 60% of kids are joked on and mentally abused everyday. If everybody could be nice and just treat everybody equally children wouldn’t be depressed and they would have friends and this kind of stuff wouldn’t happen. My goal everyday is to make people happy and a lot of times it is the people that I know need it and the people that really just need a friend.

My reaction to this video was sad, because that's some scary stuff!! Yes, I think this could happen at WHS, because this could happen every where you go, and most likely in big schools. The best way to prevent horrible incidents like this one is to be nice(not to bully) and talk to them people that look lonely, so they feel like they have a point to live in this world.

The number of school shootings, to me, seems like it's increasing. Or at least the number of them that I hearing about. These are horrible events that really shouldn't be allowed to take place. I'm confident in saying that I don't think a shooting will happen here at WHS. It's a school and bullying isn't really a problem or at least not a serious one. Things like this can be avoided by controlling the bullying and teachers and students alike paying more attention to the students around them. If one seems troubled mention it to guidance.

I feel that this was an awful thing to have happened, especially to a bunch of kids. I was not completely shocked by this video, because I heard it on the news last night. I feel that WHS is a safe and secure school, and that nothing this bad would ever really happen here. People who have problems, or who are made fun of generally are the ones who go on these rampages, so the kid might have been bullied, or been an outcast from the 8th grade on. This does not, however, in any way excuse him shooting, and even killing, his other classmates. Metal detectors can be used on the students as they enter the building, to prevent them from bringing in harmful, and even deadly things.

My reaction to this video was sad, because he's lucky to be alive. I don't think anything like this would happen at WHS because I don't think anyone is crazy enough to start shooting in the cafeteria or anywhere. To prevent horrible incidents like this one, I think they should have security or at least metal detectors to search the students before they begin their day.

I was suprised that he lived because that bullet was close to his head. The same thing could happen at WHS. Honestly anything could happen. The only thing that can prevent the horrible incident from happening, if the police go to every store that sell guns and take all the guns away. That would prevent the horrible incident from happening.

That's crazy. I hope nothing like this would ever happen at WHS. I think with stuff like this, it can happen anywhere. It very well could happen here. We have kids that might be bullied and just had enough. And like the guy on the video, he never thought that guy would do something like that so you never know. The fact that we don't know freaks me out a little bit. I'm not really sure anything can be done to prevent this because you never know what a person is going through and what they're thinking. Eliminating bullying could maybe help in this situation.

This is ridiculous! That reporter is dumb as I don't know what! He just asked the victim why he's still alive. What an idiot.
Hopefully, something like this won't happen in Windsor. I would be the first one to move to California. Don't ask me why I would move, but I would.

Austin Hyler said...

I think its crazy how people go to schools and shoot kids. What are these people thinking. I hope nothing like that will happen at our school.

Jessica said...

Yes this could happen at Windsor, that's why people that are quiet I try to talk to because people joke around with people but they don't realize what happens in these kids lives out of school. People struggle at home with a wide range of different problems, and people here really don't think about that and just talk about everyone. I think the only way this could end is if teens would stop talking about everyone and only talk about what they know and not to start rumors but I highly doubt that'll happen.

Austin Rivers said...

It was scary and yes it can happen anywhere because you never know about how a student can react. Be friends with the people who need them and don't bully.

Amber Furman said...

Its sad, but it can happen anytime, anywhere. I don't see it happening at WHS but you never know. This is the perfect reason why you shouldn't bully. You never know what someone is thinking. I am sure that boy was bullied and this was his revenge. The only prevention is don't bully others and if you are upset about being bullied or have thoughts of doing something like this, go talk to someone, a teacher, an adult, a friend, a family member, or a doctor.

I’m shocked but yet at the same time I’m not. School shootings are becoming way too trendy for kids with emotional problems. I believe that something similar could happen at WHS, but is very unlikely because you never know how other people may feel. The only thing that could have prevented horrible incidents like this one that took place in Ohio would be if people would care about one another.

It just goes to show you to always be on the look out. Yea it just all depends if someone snaps. Stop bullying and it probly wouldnt happen

Sounds like more and more schools are having shootings. You never know where it could happen next. I don't think it will happen in WHS because everyone here is friends and everyone knows everyone. The only thing that can really stop things like this from happening is putting in metal detecters and all that but that stuff cost money. that's something we don't have.

I think this video is crazy! I especially think it's wrong how the reporter asked the kid why is he alive today. Yes, I believe that anything could happen anywhere. Some people get depressed and depression can make people do unthinkable things. I would like to think if people weren't so judgemental then things like this wouldn't be happening today. We should all just be nice to one another and treat others how we would want to be treated so things like this would be least likely to happen.

Makayla said...

I think that this world is getting really crazy! Its stupid to shoot up your own school for no reason. If you have anger problems then there are better ways to release anger. The same thing could happen, but I hope it wont because this is sad and outrageous. I think that parents need to take more action in there kids lives to see if everything is good with them. Especially if you see that your child is going goth and isn't acting the way they normally do.

What happened is terrible. However, this could happen at any school at any time though. Some people just get bullied or picked on and just had enough and start shooting who they don't like. It's a terrible thing but people don't think before they act. And I don't know if anything could have been done to prevent it from happening. -Josh Cutchins

This is becoming such a large problem in today's schools. I believe that social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace could be causing kids to lash out with such manners. This same thing could happen in any school. No matter how harsh security is there are countless ways people can still harm others. ZACH CAHALAN

This video makes me think about how important life is . People dont understand how people feel to be teased or picked on for being different . To me a school should be the safest place to be at . But today it is not .We need to keep in mind that this could me us.To me the quiet ones are the most dangeruos ones . Some kids just take in alot and then they just burst, and lash out at everyone .

This video was kind of tragic. This can happen anywhere. I would say the only way to prevent this, especially in a place like Windsor, is to observe students a lot better, because most of the people who do this are students.

Surprised. I don't think I can even imagine something like this even at WHS. You can prevent things like this from happening by just checking the kids.

I think it's really sad to think that people sometimes feel the need just to shoot people even if for no reason at all. Things like this can happen anywhere. School is just a place where it just isn't expected. I think it could happen at our school. Although I think it's not as likely because everyone knows everyone and someone would usually know if someone had brought a gun to school. I do believe it is possible though.

This video is shocking to me! I hate to say this, but this could happen at our school. It could actually happen anywhere! That kid probably was being bullied or was having troubles at home. That's why bullying should stop. You will never know when that person who is being bullied has had enough. There is so many stories out their about kids killing themselves over bullying or doing something crazy. How we could stop this is if kids would stop picking and judging other people. That's how it all gets started. When that one person opens their mouth and says that secret they know about the other person and the line goes on and on and on until something is done. The person that is harmed either takes somebody else life away or theirs. We will never know what is going on in their head, but we can put a stop to it all.

It was sad. Something like this can happen at WHS. Some people change over time and they feel left out. When people change they want to hurt one and another. To prevent this is talk to people that feel left out. Talk to people that feel alone and don't have anyone to talk to.

This video is very sad of what happen. I feel safe and secure went I come to WHS. WHS is safer than city and some local schools that I know of. The school need more security to prevent things like this from happening. Also they might want to get metal devices so they can search for weapons, if need be.

Wow. This kid might of had some emotional problems to go so far as to shoot his classmates. Especially one of his older friends. This goes to show that bullying and teasing is getting way too out of hand now a days. I bet a million bucks that if the shooter wasn't messed with and people didn't try to make him feel down about himself, he wouldn't have shot any of his classmates.
I do believe that something like this could happen at Windsor High. There are a ton of people who just can't learn to grow up and leave people alone. They have to make people feel below themselves so themselves so that they feel "popular" or "superior" to them. Too much of this will cause anyone to break at a point. The level of violence depends on how much the person has been bullied.
In order to prevent this, I believe that there should be an end to bullying. There is absolutely no point in being a bully! Just because you feel insecure or under-confident about yourself doesn't mean you have the right to make someone feel the same about themselves. Especially if you do it to get popular or "fit in". Those people aren't going to be with you in your life forever. So don't ruin someone's life just to make yourself feel better! Help yourself before you hurt someone else!

This video was not really surprising to me because things like this happen. Yes something similar could happen at WHS because anything can happen anywhere at any given time. Honestly I don't know what could be done to prevent it because just like in Ohio it was just a normal student enrolled in the school that started shooting and if someone in the school was going to bring a gun no1 would know.
