Tiger's Transgressions

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Tiger Woods shocked the nation and started a media frenzy when he was involved in a single vehicle car crash on November 27, 2009. It has been estimated that the amount of damage to Tiger’s vehicle is approximately $8,000. Included in the damages are the bashed out windows where his wife, Elin, reportedly used a wedge golf club to rescue her husband from the vehicle.

What began as your ordinary 2:30 a.m. Thanksgiving night crash has evolved into anything but ordinary. From the mistresses, the tabloids, the domestic violence allegations and visions of Tiger's Swedish wife, Elin chasing her husband with golf club in hand, the Tiger Woods saga has taken many twists and turns.

Are you a Tiger Woods fan? How do you think this negative media attention will affect Tiger's popularity and his sponsors? Tiger has refused to comment and asks that his transgressions be kept private. Is that possible for a celebrity as big as Tiger Woods? Do you think it was wise for him not to comment to the media? Why or why not? The women in the video said that Tiger was acting out because he had been managed his whole life. Do you agree or do you think they are just giving Tiger an excuse and a way out for his bad choices?

I'm not a golf fan, but I do like Tiger Woods. He's very talented, very intelligent, and an all-around "good guy". I know everyone makes mistakes (and celebrities are definitely no exception), but the fact that Tiger's affair has gone on for three years and possibly with more than one woman does make me think less of him. There are also children involved. Too many people fail to realize that once you have a child, it's not about you anymore. Selfishness is unacceptable, and parents must put their children's needs above their own. I don't care whether or not Tiger has been managed his entire life; he made his own choices to get married and have a family. So, there is no excuse for infidelity. Although Tiger has his right to privacy, I would like to see Tiger accept responsibility for his actions and give the media one solid comment. Maybe then the media would leave him alone, and people would stop asking questions.

I personally don't care what the man does, because he is just that: a man. He is a human being and all humans make bad choices. I think it was horrible for him to cheat on his wife but that is between him and his wife. It is stupid to revel over "idol" figures.

I am not a Tiger Woods fan. I think that this incident will give Tiger Woods a bad rep. In my opinion I would say that it is his choice to keep this private. But I do not think that it is smart. The women probably are trying to give him a way out of his problems.

I have never really watched him play, however he is a very respectable person. I don't think that this affair will affected his popularity, and his sponsors will continue to support him. I think that this issue between his family is his business, and the media should stay out of it. Tiger Woods is look at for his way in golf, his personal business has nothing to do with his career. I don't agree that it was because his life was "managed", it's life, people make mistakes. I think the media needs to step out of this one, and let the Woods family work out there issues.

I am definitely a Tiger Woods fan. Well its good to know that he will not loose any of his endorsements. Well I believe that the media should respect his request by leaving this issue alone. I believe it was wise for him not to comment to the media, because this is his PERSONAL problem, and that no one she be worried about it. I would not say he has made a bad choice, this was just one incident that was blown up by the media to bring negative attention to him and his family.

Yes, I am a Tiger Woods fan. I think it will make him more popular but not in a good way. No, everyone is going to want to about what happened just because he is a big celebrity. I do think, so because the more he says about it, the more people are going to boost it up. I think it is just an excuse to help get out if the situation.-Alia H.

I'm not really a golf fan and Tiger Woods is the only real golfer that I know about. I'm more of a softball, volleyball, and football kind of a person. I think the negative media will affect Tiger's popularity and it will make sponsors be more hesitant to associate their companies with him. It's pretty much impossible for celebrities to keep their business personal because their whole lives are put out for people to see. I think Tiger should have made a comment when it first happened to defend himself before people started making accusations. Celebrities shouldn't get use the excuse of getting managed all their life because it was his choice.

Yes, I do like Tiger Woods as a person but I'm not really a golf fan. I think that the media has gotten to much into his business. They just need to leave the whole thing alone. The man is human and is going to make mistakes. That will not be the last mistake that he makes in his career time. All he did was ask for it to be private and that is possible only if the media gets out of it. He probably should have said something about it though just to admit to it. I think that that is just an excuse for him. He does not need to have excuses he is human and it was a mistake. That saying is not true.

I didn't know who Tiger Woods was until today. I am not a golf fan. I do not think it is possible for someone as big as Tiger Woods to have something be a secret. I think he did the right thing by not making a comment to the media because it's his life. They don't need to know every detail of his life. I also think that it was an excuse. He has a wife and children. It doesn't matter if he has been managed his whole life. He needs to be responsible for his actions.

I don't follow golf, I watch it very rarely. If there is nothing else to do and nothing better on TV is when I may watch it. I know of tiger woods like most people but I’m not a fan he is good at what he does and I thinks that cool. The life of any celebrity tends to not be so private so even if he says he wants a private life, its not going to happen. I'm sure tiger Woods doesn't want to lose money and or fans so he will try to seem as innocent as possible. When people become good at something and then get noticed and become a celebrity it seems that most of the morals they had before they become who they are just disappear.

No, I'm not a Tiger Woods fan, nor am I a golf fan. With Tiger being one of the golfing greats, this just might end his career, if not hamper his publicity. His sponsors might abandon him, also. I think Tiger needs at least SOME privacy. With the media on his back all the time, he needs his privacy. I think he was wise to keep his mouth shut in front of the media, because the media doesn't need to know all of the details. I think they gave Tiger an excuse to get out of all this stuff.

Yes, I love Tiger Woods! He has always been one of my favorite athletes. I think this negative situtation really won't bother Tiger. I really think that after the media stops talking about Tiger he will always be an all around good person. I think that him refusing to speak about it is perfectly fine. He doesn't have to say anything to the media. I don't agree with the women saying that Tiger was acting out because he had been managed his whole life. That is no excuse for such behavior. I think they are trying to keep Tiger's good guy image, which they should. Soon, I think Tiger will recover from this uproar and be the guy he has always been.

I'm not much of a Tiger Woods fan, only because I don't really like golf. I think that all the negative attention will affect Tiger's popularity. Since he is a celebrity, people know all of his business. He can't just keep his business to himself. He made a mistake just like everyone else does, so he just has to take responsibility for his mistakes. I think he should just tell everybody what went on and let it be over with.

No I am not a Tiger Woods fan. I don't even watch golf. I believe that it will effect his marriage ,and it is taking a negative approach on his life in the spot light. No, it is not possible for a celebrity to keep things from the media. People are speaking out against him and is making it worst for him. No, I don't believe that him not making any approach to tell his side of the story. It doesn't help for every girl to talk about put everything out and him not take charge. I think that they are giving him an excuse because he is a celebrity and they all use that as an excuse, which isn't right at all.

Yes, I am a tiger woods fan. I don’t think that the negative attention will affect Tiger’s popularity and his sponsors. The media always find something to talk about and make the people they are talking about look bad also. It is possible for a celebrity as big as Tiger Woods to keep quite and refuse to say anything. I think it is wise for him not to comment the media, because he feels that his life is private. I agree with the women.

People make mistakes and more likely all his sponsors and fans that are men, probably cheated on their wifes. I think it is possible to keep his trangressions private. All he has to do is not say anything and let the media talk on what they hear from other people;instead of the person itself. No I don't agree with meadia.I think that Tiger Woods did what he wanted to do

I am a fan of Tiger Woods but not golf. I don't think that this is going to affect his popularity as an athlete but as a celebrity. I don't think people care what celebrity you are, they're going to talk. I think that if he just tells the media the truth and face the facts then the situation will blow over much quicker and easier. I don't agree with what the women said. I think that it's just giving Tiger an excuse for the decision he made.

I personally do not like golf but from what I heard about Tiger Woods I like him. After hearing what he has done it does make me look at him different. My family was broke up because my dad cheated so I know the feeling and he should be ashamed. I do not think it is possible for his transgressions to be kept private because he is such a big celebrity. I think he should have came out and commented and apologized to his family. I personally think that they are just giving Tiger Woods an excuse and a way out for his bad choices. He knew what he was doing he made those choices he could have controlled them and made the right decisions so in my opinion he was wrong and he knows it.

I'm not really a Tiger Woods fan. I don't really have any comments on this because this happens all the time. I think this shouldn't really have gone public, especially if he told her wife about this. The media just wants to stir stuff up... But then again it's his decision. and I think what's past is past. Maybe he and his wife have talked this over, but the media loves bringing this stuff out... I think him not commenting was a very wise person.

I’m not really a Tiger Woods fan, because I don’t really like golf. I think that this kind of publicity will have a negative affect with his sponsors, and also wit his fan. I don’t know why people flip out when celebrities are involved in scandals, because they’re humans too. I think people flip out because they look up to them and don’t expect them to be perfect. I don’t think that it’s possible for celebrities to keep there personal business, because someone is always around and watching them. I do think its wise for him not to comment to the media, because the media always takes the things that celebrities say and twist them around. I do think that women in the video was making an excuse for Tiger, because just because he had a tough time growing up doesn’t give you a reason to cheat.

I'm not a Tiger Woods fan. I don't like golf. I think it's going to make his popularity and sponsors decrease tremendously. He should have just said something about it. I mean, the media is going to find out someway, somehow. He should have just went ahead and admitted that he wrecked his car. I don't think it was wise for him not to comment. I think it was stupid! Honestly, I'm not sure about the last question. I would need way more evidence than just words, but that's just me.

I have always liked golf and Tiger Woods has always been my favorite golfer. I believe that the media will indeed ruin his reputation. Although just because his reputation is ruined, it doesn't mean he is any worse at golf. He will always be a good golfer. I believe like he was smart to not comment, but he should have known that it would leak out eventually. I don't think that his excuse is valid, but I would probably use it.

I do not like golf and I am not a Tiger Woods fan. I think people will look at him differently and judge him. It is not possible for the transgressions be kept private when he is such a big celebrity. I think that he did the right thing by not commenting on the issue because the media may change his statements. Wrong is wrong and he should not have been cheating on his wife. There is no excuse for that.

I'm not a golf fan in general, so I don't know really anything about him. He will still always be loved by America. No, it's definitely not possible for it to be a secret. When you're famous, all of your business is out there. People find out everything in Windsor, so of course a celebrity's business will be out there. It is wise kind of, but if it's true he needs to own up to it. If you make a mistake, it's better to admit it. They are just giving him the biggest excuse. It's still not an excuse. Cheating is never okay.

I have never really liked Tiger Woods. I think he is really overrated because everyone talks about how he wins so many awards for golfing but he is still young and he is playing against old guys who are obviously less athletic than he is. He is an inspiration to many people all around the world and I respect that but all this stuff surfacing about him now is ruining his reputation. He is not only making himself look bad, he is negatively affecting his kids and family. He is never going to be able to change that but all he can do is say he is sorry and try not to tarnish his reputation.-Nick Powell™├├├├├├├

I DO NOT WATCH GOLF AND I NEVER WILL SORRY! I think it will affect him enormously because he is being a jerk, when you get married and have kids; you give up the "i's" for your family. He is a celebrity, lets be serious, there is no way this will be kept a secret, the media "foods on" these types of things. They act as if they are having an affair with him because they just keep making excuses. Being a good person involves taking full responsibility for what you do.

I'm not really a golf fan, but I do admire Tiger Woods. He's a very cool, down to earth person in my opinion. I don't think that the media's negative attention will affect Tiger's popularity. I didn't think that Tiger Woods would do something like that to his wife. Cheating on her while she was pregnant with their second child was a stupid thing to do. That was just unnecessary. Tiger Woods should own up for what he did. I think that the women in the video are just giving Tiger an excuse and a way out for his bad choices.

I am not a golf fan and it's not that I didn't like Tiger Woods it's just that I never followed him. I think that the whole thing will blow over and his fans will still be there. I think that no matter how hard Tiger tries he will not be able to escape the lime light. I think that he is a guilty man and deserves whats comming to him. I don't believe in cheating at all I think people who cheat should be given the worse punishment. I hope he learns his lesson because he has children that he needs to be there for. He needs to grow up and accept responsibilities. He may not have been able to party when he was younger but he choose that, he choose to become a professional golfer. When you have children and a wife your parting days are over you have people that depend on you that you have to take care of. Because he cheated I hope his wife takes him for everything he has.

I'm not a golf fan so therefore I'm not a Tiger Woods fan. I think that it is going to make his sponsors see him as a wrong option for a spokesman, and his popularity is going to decline most in likely. For a celebrity as big as Tiger it isn't possible to keep quite. I think it was really wise of him to make no commit that is because it makes it deniable to a certain point. I think it is just an excuse even if it was true, because he should have done what he did before he had a kid not afterward. James St. Peter

I am not a Tiger Woods fan nor a golf fan. Golf is boring to me. I think like any other situation, of course it is going to change the minds and perspective of Tiger Woods. On the radio, I heard he admit to something wrong he did. I feel the lady on the interview was giving excuses for him. I don't agree him being giving excuse for his bad choices.

I am not really a Tiger Woods fan, I don't know much about him or his life. I don't think guys will lose interest in Tiger Woods and his golf career, but some girls who feel for his wife might I guess. With Tiger thinking his life should be private, well he should have thought about that before he became a professional athlete and put his business out in the open. Celebrities should think about their business being out in the open before they become a celebrity. I think he should tell everyone exactly what the truth is so people will stop making up stuff. Once he comes clean there wouldn't be any question weather he did a certain thing or not. -Amber Bass

I'm not really a big fan of Golf but Tiger Woods is cool. I don't really know how this will affect Tiger's popularity and his sponsors. For a celebrity as big as Tiger I think that he does have a right to keep everything private but what for? Because everybody already has some idea of what he did and all there going to do is just add on to it and if it's not true then it will just be an even bigger lie. So I say that if the media is saying something about it then maybe he should. No, I don't think that it was wise for him to not comment to the media because then no one knows exactly what happens. But then again its his life and celebrity's are human beings just like us and they have equal rights just like we do. Cheating is wrong espeacially when you have a family then cheating with somebody should'nt even cross your mind. But yeah I do think that they are giving him an excuse for doing something that he know he should'nt have done.-Cadeja Wilson
