Have you ever seen 99 Balloons? If not, what did you think of the video? If so, was it easier watching it a second time? What can you learn from Eliot's parents?
I've seen 99 Balloons numerous times, and it is never an easy video to watch. The first time I saw the video was on Oprah, and I cried like a baby. A year ago I became a mother to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. This video makes me realize how extremely blessed I am, not only to have a healthy son, but also to still have Braydon in my life. I never understood a mother's love until I became one, and I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a child. I am amazed at the strength of Eliot's parents through the loss of their son, but I know that one day they will see Eliot again.
I have never seen 99 balloons before. This was my first time. I think that the video was inspiring, but it also was sad. This is not an easy video to watch because an innocent baby is born with defects. Eliot, the baby, only lived for 99 days and that was the saddest part. I think that his parents had to be strong, knowing that he would soon die. I think that Eliot is in a better place now and no longer has to suffer. -Muhammad R.
Yes, I have seen 99 Balloons a couple times before. It actually wasn't easy to watch again. I thought it would be since I knew what was coming. However, it almost seemed harder. Eliot's parents were two very strong people. They were very hopeful and positive throughout Eliot's life. I can learn to never give up on anything in life. I should always be thankful for what I have. -Taylor Gay :)
I thought the video was very sad and emotional. I can learn from Eliot's parents that they are patient and caring. When all seemed lost, they didn't give up. They prayed about it and God took the time to keep Eliot alive for 99 days. That alone is very sweet and loving. Samantha =]
I have never watched 99 Balloons before and I'll be honest, I had to turn away several times to keep from getting a little emotional. I have had worries about my future children like how will I manage? How good of a mother will I be? Will s/he benefitt from the things I can offer? Those are just a few in my long list. This video is very sad and inspirational at the same time. I feel for the parents having to loose their child. I would be devistated, but it does give me hope that no matter what happens I now I will have tried my best.
I have seen this video previously in Web Design. This video is sad, but inspirational. Eliot was a true miracle sent from God. His parents taught me to always cherish everyday because we don't know if there will be a tomorrow. We shouldn't take for granted the little things because they are what make our lives special. --Brittany Oliver :)
I have never seen this video before; I think it is a touching clip that warms my heart. From this video I can tell that Eliot's parents are amazing compared to other parents, and I wish they wouldn't have to endure what they went through. However I’m sure it has made them stronger and wouldn’t have traded anything for those 99 days with Eliot. I think Eliot lived so long because of the parents he was blessed with. Some could have just left him for someone else to handle or just gave up on him, but Eliot’s parents didn't and they fought for him to live as long as possible.
No this was the first time that I had seen 99 Balloons. This video is very sad. This video teaches us to be strong. Through Eliot's parents we can see that being strong and having faith can get us through. I belive it was a blessing and a miracle to have Eliot for 99 days so did his parents. Thats why not one of those 99 days were taken for granted. Each day they celebrated in some kind of way the time spent with their little miracle.
I have never seen 99 Balloons before. This was my first time seeing it. I thought it was sad. I don't think I can come up with any words to describe it. I think Eliot's parents cared for him deeply and tried to take care of him the best that they could. But when it's our time to die, it's our time. We can't do anything when God says it's time. Death is a natural and unfortunate part of life. It's hard to let go of somebody we know, love, and cherish. I have had my share of deaths in my family, and I can say it isn't good to go through. Parker Little
I've never seen 99 balloons before, and it was one of the saddest videos I've ever seen. I almost cried when I watched it. Eliot's parents did really well being in the situation that they were in. Knowing that their son was going to die very soon and still caring for him as much as they did had to have been really hard. They must have really loved him. -Jessica
I have never seen the video 99 Balloons. This movie just comes to show that you should enjoy life while you can, because you never know when your time is over here on Earth. This video really caught my attention because, what if this situation happened to me and my family. I can not imagine how some parents feel when they lose a child this young. Like the bible says there is a time to be born and a time to die,a time to weep and a time to laugh. -Bryce L.
Since this is my first time seeing the video. I didnt think it was goin to turn out like this. I couldnt imagine having a child then they only live for 99 days . Just like they say God gives and God takes away. I feel sorry for Eliots parents but then again I know that they are going to see Eliot someday. From Eliots parents I learn that I can be strong just like them if I ever had a child and they die. But at least they have special memories and pictures of him everyday that he lived. R.I.P Eliot. -Schatese Cherry-Collins
This is the second time that I've seen this story. It's never easy to watch. It's heartbreaking. It really makes me feel grateful to be alive and well. Something I've always looked forward to is having my own children because I am passionate about them. I could never imagine going through something like this. Though this video is an eye opener to life; how precious and valuable it is, how quick it can go, what joy it can bring, and how painful it can be. Eliot's parents teach viewers that there is so much in life to be thankful for. They teach that every moment of life if worth celebrating. I am sure that they will reunite with their son in heaven one day, what a joyous day that will be. Mallory
I have seen 99 Balloons before. I think that it was easier watching it a second time. From Elliot’s parents I learn that you never know when someone can be taken from you so you have to cherish every moment, and every day that you have with them. Elliot was a strong baby and suffered a lot at an early age. I know that his parents are happy that he is in a better place now and that he doesn’t have to suffer anymore. It probably was hard giving him up but his parents understood the situation that he was in well, and that it was a miracle for him just to be alive. Quatesha
I have seen 99 Balloons before in your class and I think that everyone in my class was crying or just about too. I do not think it will ever be an easy video to watch because it is such a tragedy. At least I know it would not be a situation for me to handle. I learned from Eliot's parents that you should make the best out of any situation, whether good or bad. Although your loved ones come and go, you should live life to the fullest so there are no regrets. Nothing is make to last forever, why not enjoy is why is last? ~Andrea Johnson
I never saw the video 99 Balloons till today. I thought the video was extremely sad. I couldn't tell you if it was easier too watch this video for a second time because I only seen it once. But, it wasn't that difficult too watch because I already knew that everyone and everything must go and we will never be prepared for what is to come but it will so take it as it is and that goes for videos and real life. I learn that they look at the problem as another way too grow closer with their son. James St. Peter
I think this is the first time I have seen this video. It is so touching, especially how they celebrated every day of his life. What dedication to the parents especially since they expected hard times, they flew past them. The dad, commentating this video, is so powerful. Usually the parent would be so upset to forget their child. 99 balloons is a good video, they never gave up even when they knew his days were short. So I guess that's why they cherished every day of his precious life. A great video, well recommended. -Craig St. + + | ___ / \
They have to be the strongest people I know. Losing a son, I'm sure, is the hardest thing to do. I don't think I could handle it. Just watching this video made me cry, I can't imagine going through the real experience. Eliot's parents are incredible in my opinion. They celebrated every single day their son was alive. Barely anybody can say that. They know that they'll be reunited with their son again one day. I wouldn't wish the pain of losing a child on anyone. Erica Owens
I have never seen 99 Balloons before, and it was an extremely sad video to watch. Eliot's parents are amazing. Through all those hard times and complications they had with Eliot they never gave up on him. They held strength through it all and will see Eliot when they pass away. I know it had to be hard for both of them to go through all that, but at least they got to be with him for 99 days. They didn't have long with Eliot but they spent every minute with him and taking care of him.
This is the first time I've seen this video. It was a very sad story, although it had a good moral to it. Eliot's parents were good, loving parents. They loved him and cared for him to the best of their abilities. Most parents don't care for their children the way they did theirs.
I've never seen 99 Balloons. i'm sitting here trying to express how I feel but i'm having a hard time because all I can do right now is cry. this video was so sad but insperational at the same time. No, I have never seen 99 Balloons.I thought the video was extremely sad, even though the end where the dad said that he would see him again kind of made the video a little better. You can learn patience, optimism, and persistence from Eliot's parents. I have never seen this video before. Oh my gosh! It is so sad! After they had said he passed to 3 month mark I thought for sure he was going to live. I had no idea he was gonna die. I think that his parents handled his death well. I would have been a train wreck if I had lost my child. His parents are great, I guess knowing that they'll see him later on makes them get through it much easier. He's in a much better place. -Summer Wilson
Yes, I watched it last year in here. Watching it today though, it still has the same saddening effect it had on me last year. It wasn't easier watching it a second time, but I just knew the outcome. It's so sad to know that Eliot died, but it's a miracle that he lived as long as he did. They were very strong-willed people. They loved their son very much, and every day that Eliot was still alive and breathing, was a very happy day for them. It's saddening to watch a life be taken away like that, but it also gives the doctors something to research to find a cure for.
This was my first time seeing 99 balloons. This video was so sad because they thought their son was doing so well and at the end they found out he wasn't as healthy as they thought. I have seen 99 balloons twice, today being the second time. Still, I cry and sob like there is no tomorrow. Today though, I didn't cry as much because I didn't want to cry in front of the whole class, but tears we're rolling down my face.
